Parallel is #OOO July 1-7th for our #SummerBreak. We’re taking a break to recharge and reset. At Parallel, we believe different learners and thinkers can achieve amazing things. But the world of special education can be demanding and challenging. Our mission is to support these unique minds, ensuring they have the tools and opportunities to succeed. This important work requires #energy, #passion, and #dedication. That's why Recharge Week is so essential. It’s a time for our team to log off and unplug completely. With no emails or meetings, the Parallel Team can truly step away from their desks and go offline. We encourage our team to spend quality time with family, dive into that summer reading list, explore nature, and mentally reset. This break ensures that we return revitalized and ready to continue our mission. We’ll be back on July 8th, refreshed and prepared to make a difference in the lives of the students we serve. Here’s to a week of rest and the exciting work ahead! 🇺🇸 🌟Happy 4th of July Week! 🇺🇸 🌟

🌈 🌟A. Jordan Wright, PhD, ABAP, ABPP was recently featured on NewsChannel 9 WSYR highlighting the importance of supporting #LGBTQ+ youth. 🌈 🌟 LBGTQ+ kids face unique challenges that often create more roadblocks than those experienced by their peers. The statistics are stark and telling. LGBTQ+ youth who have even just one accepting adult in their lives are 40% less likely to commit suicide. There is a crucial need for supportive environments and individuals who can make a life-saving difference. Parallel understands that creating these supportive environments involves more than just broad statements of inclusion. It’s about the small, consistent actions, such as —micro-signals—that convey to LGBTQ+ students that they are seen, heard, and supported. These micro-signals, whether it's using inclusive language, visibly supporting LGBTQ+ causes, or simply listening with empathy, communicate to students that there are friendly voices and champions for them within their school communities. Parallel ensures that schools can create an environment where every student, regardless of their sexual orientation or gender identity, can succeed and feel valued. We believe that access to acceptance and support can save lives, Parallel is dedicated to making schools a place where every student can succeed, embodying the true spirit of Pride and equality. Parallel is observing #Juneteenth as a day of education and awareness. Acknowledging the history of Juneteenth is necessary for ongoing progress towards equality, and we encourage our community to take today to reflect on Black stories and voices, support Black-owned businesses, inform themselves and others to participate in civic engagement. As educators, let Juneteenth inspire us to create learning environments that promote diversity, equity, and inclusion, where every student feels seen, heard, and valued. If you've been involved in education for any amount of time, you’ve likely heard people talk about making a difference. "Teachers should strive to make a difference." "The best educators change lives." "Teaching is about making an impact." Those are true, but there’s more to it. There’s a deeper, more impactful way to truly understand the essence of teaching. And we'll prove it with a story: Meet Rhonda McCarthy, a dedicated teacher with a passion for helping students in need. One particular student will always stay with her. This boy had incarcerated parents and was being raised by his grandparents. He struggled with disruptive behaviors, feeling lost and unsupported. Rhonda decided to spend time with him, having lunch together once or twice a week to build a connection. Over time, she saw real progress. He began making gains both academically and emotionally. At the end of the school year, this usually reserved boy came to her class, tears in his eyes, to say goodbye. He wasn’t one for showing emotions, but on this day, he looked at her and said, "Thank you, Mrs. McCarthy. No one has ever cared before." On that day, Rhonda knew she had made a difference. Want to know the absolute craziest part of this story? Every time it’s shared, it resonates deeply with those who understand the profound impact a caring teacher can have. This wasn’t a special circumstance, an anomaly, or a lucky response. This is the heart of teaching. This is the culture of caring. This is how Rhonda treated her students—with dignity, empathy, love, and care. And it’s how every educator should approach their role. You see… You don’t just make a difference. You become the difference. We are thrilled to share that our CEO, Diana Heldfond, and Parallel was recently featured in Florida Today , highlighting our mission to support educators like Rhonda and students in need. A big thank you to Finch Walker for shedding light on these critical issues. At Parallel, we are committed to making a difference for students everywhere.
