With a degree in Welding Technology and nearly 20 years of experience, Nathan plays a crucial role in our team, cutting and welding holes in the heads for air compressors. He also offers some valuable advice for those new to the industry: "This is a great place to learn experience. Soak up as much as you can. Just focus on the task at hand. Everything will come to you and it'll start flowing naturally." 👋 Meet Mitchell Fain, our General Machinist for MAT HD in Rome, Georgia. Joining in April, Mitchell has quickly become an asset, bringing innovation and creativity with his tech expertise. Mitchell's career began as a Tool & Die maker, transitioned to a Mold maker, and then as a Pattern Maker. Passionate about new technology and machining techniques, Mitchell is driven by learning and improvement. Outside of work, he enjoys off-road driving and camping. Mitchell's favorite part of MAT is the team spirit. "Everyone is willing to help and listen," he says, valuing teamwork and collaboration. Looking ahead, Mitchell hopes to mentor an apprentice, seeing it as an investment in MAT HD’s future. In honor of our 40th year and International Women in Engineering Day, we want to spotlight one of our inspirational team members, Lily Pan. Lily's journey with us began in 1992, when she was just the fifth member of our team. Over the years, she's been a testament to hard work and resilience, transitioning from an IT Network Administrator to the Vice President of Logistics and Operations for the GRIE division. When we launched MAT Auto Group in 1994, Lily became our second employee and embraced every challenge with confidence, designing workflows and handling translations among other tasks. Today, as our VP of Logistics, Lily oversees operations at many of MAT’s global foundry and distribution sites. She champions the belief that the landscape has changed and continues to evolve, emphasizing that no field is driven by gender, but by performance. She encourages us all with her words, “It’s a matter of having a willingness to learn and continuously encourage others to develop their voices and strengths. I was once the only woman in a meeting; now I’m seeing more women rise to management and leadership positions, even while balancing a family with a career. There are several career paths in distribution that both women and men are advancing through." Lily's journey is a testament to her mindset – a drive to move after what she wanted without imposing restrictions on herself. She's living proof that with dedication, commitment and a thirst for learning, there are plenty of opportunities to grow at MAT!
