Today is #NationalPetFireSafetyDay! Approximately 1,000 home fires are started accidentally by pets each year. Candles, electrical wires, cooking appliances, you name it. Even a lamp that gets tipped over can become a hazard. Please take a moment to pet-proof your home, make your furry friends part of your fire escape plan, and ensure the smoke alarms in your home are working properly! Do you provide annual physicals for your firefighters that include comprehensive behavioral health evaluations, skin cancer screenings, and bi-annual mammograms for firefighters over 40? The Incorporation of NFPA 1582 in the proposed OSHA standard 1910.156 rule would require this. If you are not currently performing physicals at this level, click here and tell OSHA why that would be problematic for your organization: https://lnkd.in/gZYmZasS

Plastic trash continues to impact our wildlife and our environment—from the pollution produced through plastic production all the way to both accidental and intentional littering. As we celebrate #PlasticFreeJuly, Arch’s Blue Goes Green committee invites you to take steps with us to eliminate plastic from your lives. It only takes small changes to make a big difference. Think about how you can modify some of your habits to keep plastic waste out of our environment and away from some of our most precious natural resources, our wildlife. Be sure to take the time to teach the next generation about ways to be plastic free, too.

Do you clearly mark control zones for every emergency incident to establish a cold zone, warm zone, hot zone and no entry zone? The proposed OSHA 1910.156 rule would require this. If this would be problematic for your organization, click here and tell OSHA why this is not feasible: https://lnkd.in/gZYmZasS

We have learned that if we don't do the right things to take care of our team at the scene, our brothers and sisters can suffer short and long-term illnesses that can be fatal. We need to take care of ourselves on emergency scenes while we take care of our communities. Join us for a webinar discussing the importance of rehab on emergencies and strategies to avoid losing our most important resource - our people. Date: July 10th Time: 7:00PM EST Register Here: https://lnkd.in/eV_C-S35
