It’s National Minority Mental Health Awareness Month, another time for us to reflect on the specific mental health challenges racial and ethnic minorities face, and pledge action to overcome the obstacles they encounter to receiving care. According to the FDA Office of Women’s Health, those include less access to treatment and stigma, among others. As a health system guided by the principles of compassion, dignity and respect, and which cares for people of all backgrounds, we continue to find ways to close gaps in care and improve health equity. This year’s theme is Be the Source for Better Health: Improving Health Outcomes Through Our Cultures, Communities and Connections, LEARN more about it and ways to take action from the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) -> https://bit.ly/3XZgf4U #MJHSdei #SourceForBetterHealth #MinorityHealth #NMHM24

Hard to believe it's the end of their first week. Check out #mjhsintern to watch our PENCIL, Inc. interns grow!
PENCIL has placed nearly 500 Ladders for Leaders interns in their paid summer employment! Shannon Kaidoo-Patrick, Senior Director of Learning and Career Development at MJHS Health System, shared her experience as an intern supervisor with us: “As the managing director for the program, it is important to me to not only identify the right talent but also to ensure our organization provides these young adults with knowledge, guidance, and support they can take with them into a successful future (hopefully in healthcare 😊). It’s a two-way street. We look forward to creating an impact that encourages the interns to return the following year or even join us as employees. Their contribution to the organization has been immeasurable, and hopefully, our contribution to their lives is the same.” Share your story, as we continue to celebrate PENCIL interns!
