Stay cool, hydrated, and informed when it’s hot! Heat can affect anyone, but children, older adults, males ages 15 to 34, people who live alone, are pregnant, have medical conditions like diabetes or heart disease, work outdoors, or live in homes without air conditioning are more at risk for heat-related illnesses. Check out our extreme heat page for tips to stay cool and visit the National Weather Service’s Heat Risk tool for daily heat forecasts. https://lnkd.in/g5kGeuzQ https://lnkd.in/eSw73CNd #mnwx

The Minnesota Department of Health (MDH) will be starting to screen for Duchenne muscular dystrophy (DMD) within the coming year. Before screening starts, MDH convenes workgroups with expertise across all areas of the newborn screening system - including primary care providers who work most intimately with families. Your experience and perspective caring for newborns and their families is a vital piece during this process. Time commitment (three virtual meetings this summer): August 12 1:00-2:30p.m., August 19 3:00-4:30p.m., and August 22 11:30a.m.-1:00p.m. Out of meeting time is limited to independent review of a few drafted materials in August (e.g., one-page fact sheets). Interested in participating or need more information? Contact Maya Johnson at MDH by July 12, 2024: Email: maya.johnson@state.mn.usor Phone: 651-201-3927

The best way to protect yourself is to stay out of the water. Even shallow floodwaters can have strong currents, increasing the risk of accidents. Debris carried by floodwaters can cause injuries. Stay informed by following local authorities for updates. Learn more: https://lnkd.in/gmMux2RH Check if your route is open and safe to travel: https://lnkd.in/g7xekq5d
