  • In Houston, we are no strangers to historic storms. Everything’s bigger in Texas, right? Hurricane Beryl was no different. Since Monday afternoon, our Texas-based team and Houstonians alike have been navigating the chaos of cleaning up the damage, willing the power to be restored, keeping things steady for the kids while working-ish remotely, and just overall getting by. For our team, we’ve functioned most of the week with no power or running the basics on generators, spotty to no cell coverage, and for one of our teammates, it hasn’t been restored yet. But, this team has powered through. All week, they’ve embodied our core values of being boldly adaptable and displaying the GAS factor with an incredible positive perspective. Despite the challenges, we continued making placements for our clients, showing our unwavering commitment to their success. There is light at the end of the tunnel this Friday morning. Power has been restored to our office building. Most of us have put our generators away, and we're ready to get back to a normal work week on Monday morning.     A few days ago, a hurricane hit, leaving many of us around Houston with damaged property and without power or a way to communicate. In times like these, it’s easy to focus on the dark side of these storms. But there’s another side to the story, one that often goes unseen. My neighborhood is humming with the sound of generators as multiple families pile into the homes of neighbors and friends. Together, we’re navigating the chaos of cleaning up the damage, watching our kids, trying to work remotely, and just overall getting by. I remember the same thing during Harvey, and what stands out during these storms is the way our community comes together. From chainsawing downed trees and sharing gas cans, to cooking big meals to share – the spirit of my community is incredible. I hate the destruction these storms bring, but I’m really grateful for the way our community shines through.
