On April 30, the U.S. DOE published the new federal efficiency standard for consumer water heaters. The new federal standard will transition the majority of electric storage water heaters to heat pump technology and make important incremental steps to improve gas storage water heater efficiency. The passage of the federal water heating standard represents a major milestone in alliance Market Transformation efforts and is a win for all Northwest gas and electric customers. NEEA’s 2022 Residential Building Stock Assessment is Live! Dive into the Northwest’s Data. The results of the 2022 Residential Building Stock Assessment (RBSA) are now available on https://hubs.la/Q02slgm90. Conducted every 5 years, the RBSA collects energy usage and building characteristic data from more than 2,000 single-family and multifamily residences in Idaho, Montana, Oregon, and Washington. This one-of-a-kind data provides valuable insight that helps support and inform regional efficiency programs and energy planning for years to come. Determining proper sizing helps ensure that heat pumps efficiently heat and cool homes.
