About us
Outset is a medical technology company pioneering a first-of-its-kind technology to reduce the cost and complexity of dialysis. The Tablo Hemodialysis System, FDA cleared for use from the hospital to the home, represents a significant technological advancement that transforms the dialysis experience for patients and operationally simplifies it for providers. Tablo serves as a single enterprise solution that can be utilized across the continuum of care, allowing dialysis to be delivered anytime, anywhere and by anyone. The integration of water purification and on-demand dialysate production enables Tablo to serve as a dialysis clinic on wheels, with 2-way wireless data transmission and a proprietary data analytics platform powering a new holistic approach to dialysis care.

The team at Oklahoma Heart Hospital (OHH) was on a major mission — to transition its previously outsourced hemodialysis services entirely in-house, using #TabloDialysis. “We really liked what we were seeing and hearing about how Tablo could impact our patient care and other efficiencies,” explains Josh DuFour, RN. The effort was a success: With Outset’s support, DuFour and his team were able to implement Tablo in both the hospital intermittent hemodialysis (IHD) program and the critical care unit (CCU). Since bringing Tablo in-house, staff workflow at OHH has been streamlined, and teamwork across departments has been optimized with the continuity of dialysis they now have. “It’s just a huge difference,” said DuFour, “and gives us the high quality of care that our patients and their families expect.” To learn more about OHH’s transition to Tablo, visit: https://lnkd.in/gMn5RSDt #BetterBeginsNow #hemodialysis #dialysis #ihd

#TeamOutsetMedical has been busy on the road this past spring! Our team had the opportunity to share #TabloDialysis last month at both the NTI Critical Care Expo in Denver and the #NKFSpringClinicals in Long Beach. We had an amazing time connecting with other healthcare professionals and discussing how Tablo simplifies workflows both in hospital and at home. #BetterBeginsNow #NTI2024 #AACN

Patients on home hemodialysis (HHD) exhibit higher survival rates and lower risk of cardiovascular events than patients on peritoneal dialysis (PD). In a recent 2024 study, researchers examined 68,000 patients on dialysis. HHD rose to the top as the superior method for dialysis — HHD patients saw lower hospital admission rates and shorter overall hospital stays, along with lower adjusted risk of stroke, cardiovascular death, and acute coronary syndrome, and lived longer than patients on other modalities. A biased test kept thousands of Black people from getting a kidney transplant. It’s finally changing. Between January and March of 2023, over 14,000 Black kidney patients on the transplant list had their wait times shortened by an average of two years. It's part of an unprecedented move to mitigate racial inequality after it was uncovered that a racially-biased test overestimated the functionality of Black people’s kidneys, resulting in an overall delay in treatment and transplantation. The automated formula once used to evaluate eligibility for kidney transplants calculated different results for Black and non-Black patients, which systematically delayed diagnoses and transplants. The test serves as a stark reminder of the many ongoing racial biases present in modern-day kidney care that lead to Black patients being less likely to receive critical intervention and treatment. To learn more about the disparities in kidney care faced by Black patients and the test that resulted in care delays, read the full article: https://lnkd.in/e3mi5FA9 #BetterBeginsNow #kidneydisease #kidneytransplant

Our CEO Leslie Trigg recently spoke with the UCSF Rosenman Institute Roseman Institute on The Health Technology Podcast, sharing experiences about leading a MedTech company and the vital role her communications background has played in her leadership journey. “I'm very passionate about talking to students who are liberal arts majors and may not think they have a role in a scientific field, whether it's medical device, biotech or diagnostics,” says Trigg. “You DO have a role, a very important role. If you can't effectively communicate the vision of the company in a couple words you won't be able to attract talent to the company. If you can't effectively communicate your product’s value proposition, you have no chance of seeing it in the marketplace with physicians and nurses and administrators. If you can't effectively communicate where the company is going, where it's going to be a couple of years from now, you will have no chance of attracting investment capital. And so in all of those ways, communication skills are absolutely essential across the board no matter what function you're in. Charles Minn, MD, FASN, FACP sat down with Provider Magazine to discuss the ins and outs of dialysis at a skilled nursing facility (SNF). With the help of Tablo, Minn and his team from Park Rose Care Ctr Center in Tacoma, WA recently opened the first on-site dialysis at an SNF in the state. On-site dialysis is growing in demand as acuity is rising in facilities, patient stability is decreasing, and hospitals are trying to minimize lengths of stay. “Hospitals are sending patients out a little bit sooner, so facilities have to stabilize them and smoothly transition them to the outpatient world,” explained Minn. “It gives facilities a niche of patients that other facilities can’t care for,” Minn continued. “But on top of that, it can help patients who are stuck in the hospital because they don't have an outpatient placement.” Major kudos to Dr. Minn and the team at Park Rose for taking a huge step toward transforming dialysis care in SNFs! The team at Park Rose Care Ctr Center in Tacoma, WA, recently made history — becoming the first ever Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) in the state to offer on-site dialysis to its patients. This is a proud moment for Outset, marking a significant milestone in our expansion into SNF facilities with the #TabloDialysis system. For dialysis patients at Park Rose, this change means less disruption, more comfort, and the assurance of receiving excellent care right where they are. Teresa Andree, Executive Director of Park Rose Care Center, calls it a “game-changer in the delivery of services and quality of care.” This initiative at Park Rose Care Center is the beginning. We’re on a path to transform dialysis care in SNFs and are excited for the journey ahead! #BetterBeginsNow
