"Don't self select out of top tier universities. As a Marine, we typically sell ourselves short (if not self deprecate). Your experiences, leadership, and perspective are valued. 1. USE S2S 2. Develop meaningful connections with current student veterans (What is campus culture like? Would you be a good fit? Financial Aid?) 3. USE S2S 4. Focus on authentic supplemental essays that describe your passions; link those passions to the university experience and how you'll take their degree into the world -and change it! 5. USE S2S 6. The S2S Vetlink Essay is an incredible addendum to your application. Describe your military experiences there. If able, link them to a broader purpose and intent post-uni. 7. USE S2S!!!!" - WJ Price, Harvard University '28 Yes to everything WJ said! 🙌🏼 https://lnkd.in/e6VjHXUN

"The biggest benefit of using Service to School during the application process was having someone who not only recently went through the application process but also knew how to bring out my military experience in a way that demonstrated what I would bring to a school. I feel it was critical in me gaining acceptance at my target school." - Thomas Berkman, The Wharton School 2026 Get guidance on your college admissions from a veteran peer mentor who understands the unique experiences veterans & service members have 📲 https://lnkd.in/e6VjHXUN

"Communicate, communicate, communicate! Ask questions even when you assume the answer might be no. Much of the college application process is tailored toward traditional high school seniors; you'd be surprised at how flexible admissions officers can be if you're willing to ask for alternative solutions to things like letters of recommendation from teachers. Don't let the process scare you into giving up — just ask!" - Karenina Pelias, Yale University 2028 S2S is here to bridge to gap for veterans applying to college & support with any part of the admissions process, including finding flexible options that meet the unique situations veterans are in 💪 https://lnkd.in/e6VjHXUN Read our full interview with Karenina ✨ https://lnkd.in/esTJPr8u

"Success in applying to finish your degree or obtain additional higher education outside of the military really needs to start long before you begin the formal process of leaving the military. SFL-TAP, the military's formal program that guides Servicemembers in their transition to civilian life, is not set up to guide you through the admissions process. Studying for something like the MCAT takes months. Applying to medical school starts a full year before matriculation. Peer-to-peer mentorship helps pair you up with someone who has navigated what appears to be the murky waters and timeline of an admissions process. It ensures that you do what you need to do and that your initial shot at attending your dream school is your best shot." - James White, Duke University School of Medicine Don't travel the path to higher ed alone! https://lnkd.in/e6VjHXUN
-
"Be bold in setting your goals; you never know what you might achieve. Remember, you don't have to tackle everything alone. I'm thankful for the Veterans who guided me through it all." - Daniel Castro, The Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth 2026 You don't have to make the journey to higher ed alone. S2S is here to support you! https://lnkd.in/e6VjHXUN
