Sidley represented Angel City Football Club (ACFC) in its definitive agreement with Willow Bay and Bob Iger to acquire a controlling stake in ACFC for an enterprise value of US$250 million—making the Los Angeles-based National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) club the most valuable women’s sports team in the world. Following the closing the transaction, Bay, Dean of the USC Annenberg School for Communication and Journalism, and Iger, CEO of the Walt Disney Company, will become the new controlling owners of the Club. Sidley is representing electric vehicle maker Waev in a first-of-its kind legal action against the U.S. Department of the Treasury challenging the IRS rule that excluded the company’s low-speed GEM line of electric cars from the Inflation Reduction Act’s #electricvehicle tax credit program. The company is also challenging a 50-year-old Environmental Protection Agency regulation defining a “motor vehicle” as part of the dispute.
