As the son of a State Farm independent contractor agent, Koy Jasperson was immersed in the world of State Farm from a young age. He recalls playing with his favorite toys, State Farm wooden planes and teddy bears, and closing his eyes whenever a competitor's marketing commercial came on TV. "I've had the pleasure of meeting so many kind individuals within this company who have become like family to me. However, I never desired to follow in my dad's footsteps. I wanted to carve my own path." To support himself and his wife during college, Koy decided to work in his father's agent office. "After making the decision to pursue a different path, I had a conversation with my dad about my plans. He remained supportive but encouraged me to explore other opportunities with State Farm before finalizing my decision. Ironically enough, a corporate position as an Agency Field Specialist happened to be available in our area. I decided to apply and was later offered the position. “Serving five years in this role, I gained a deep understanding of the agent opportunity and the impact it can have on State Farm customers, team members, and the community. It was during this time I realized this was the career I truly desired. I took the leap and opened my own agent office in 2019. I did it on my terms and I haven't looked back since.” Learn more about becoming a State Farm independent contractor agent: https://lnkd.in/giWjAvk9

Underwriting service assistant Rachel and her Goldendoodle Molly are excited about their new journey at State Farm. Born with a rare genetic connective tissue disorder, Rachel relies on her wheelchair and her service dog outside the confines of her home. "Working with a service dog is not too difficult, but it does take extra planning. Molly and I have traveled to six different states. We have been to baseball games, concerts, arcades, college, and recently added State Farm to the list." On a mission to find a career that would allow her to use her new political science degree and passion for helping people, Rachel explored a career at State Farm. "I was initially worried about joining the workforce and concerned about how accepting organizations would be. I chose State Farm because of my education and dedication to helping others. The hiring process was smooth, and I have been impressed with my team and leadership. "My manager provided an opportunity for me to educate our teams on working with service animals in the office. Everyone has been respectful and friendly towards us both. We have some fans when we go in the office." For Rachel, Disability Pride Month is another chance to advocate and create an inclusive environment. "Disability Pride Month allows me and other individuals with and without disabilities to learn, bond, and share experiences with each other. Sharing our knowledge, needs, and expertise helps create awareness and community, ultimately fostering increased accessibility and cultivating a sense of pride and identity among disabled individuals.” Explore career opportunities with organizations that value diversity and foster inclusive environments at https://lnkd.in/gZ5WskN

"Interning at State Farm means I get to be challenged and gain experience with corporate America for the first time, all while having fun and making great relationships." Ever since he was a teenager, State Farm independent contractor agent Michael Garey dreamed of being his own boss but was unsure of what kind of business to pursue. "In college, I ended up switching my major, graduating with a degree in finance and then jumped into the banking world at the age of 21. As a loan officer, I was exposed to a wide variety of businesses and got to know other business owners. During a work event, a State Farm agent introduced me to the opportunity. Having been a State Farm customer for many years, the more I learned, the more it opened a door I never knew existed.” Michael reflects on his career as a State Farm agent and shares what keeps him motivated. "When I opened my second location 17 years after my first office, it wasn't because I needed more to do. It was the drive to reach even just one more person and help make a difference in their life. Although it took a lot of time and effort to build my career and future, I would do it all over again if given the chance."
