“It’s been a privilege to work with these young girls. They’re so inspiring and watching them grow in confidence has been amazing. They’ve all worked so hard and I’m proud of what they’ve achieved in a short space of time. I hope this helps them to think more widely about their career opportunities in the future”, said Denise Maskew, our Head of Digital Experience, who led this year’s Girls in Tech programme at Fulwood Academy in Preston. 👩🎓 Today marked the graduation event of the extra-curricular programme, led by Denise and Fulwood Academy Trustee Becki Smith, which has coached a cohort of teenage girls through a journey of exploring their future. And what the path to a career in tech might look like. Not only have they networked with senior leaders from leading businesses in the industry, but there’s been a spotlight on soft skills to boost their confidence and equip them with useful skills day-to-day.   Thank you to our female role models from across TalkTalk for sharing their expertise, experiences and excitement around working in a tech business over the last few months – and showing the different sides to a corporate career. You’re all inspiring! 🙏 #GirlsInTech Sarah Jones Sarah Orrill Grace Riley Julija Ivanova Boo Jenkinson Kacee F. Gill Quilliam Julie Hart

“Young people, from all backgrounds, can pursue a career in Tech and don't have to follow the traditional academic route of a computer science degree,” says our Learning and Development Business Partner Andy Hollingworth at today’s Teacher Insight Day, hosted by The University of Salford. The event has been designed for teachers to learn all about careers in tech and alternative pathways into the industry, to take back to their students and empower and encourage the next generation in tech. Exhibitors are representative companies and tech brands from the North West Tech Talent Consortium, of which we are a member. The cross-industry group is passionate about working together to inspire the future stars of tech in the region. Thanks to The University of Salford for hosting, we’re really excited for the day ahead. Shradha Sharma Liam Crellin-Myers #TechCareers

"Getting customers on the right package at point of sale is crucial to ensuring they remain satisfied throughout their contract" says our Principal Research & Market Intelligence Manager, Joanne Pilkington, at the 2024 ISP Business Summit, as part of a panel exploring consumer decision making and strategies to maximise take-up. She adds: "There's been increasing demand for more flexible TV and landline services in recent years. That's why we offer these services without long-term commitments, enabling customers to only pay for what they want." Hosted by ISPA UK, this year's event brings together leading industry representatives to discuss how the broadband sector may look over the next 12 months and beyond. What broadband trends do you expect to see in the coming year? #ISPA #ISPABusinessSummit #Broadband

This week, our group CEO Dame Tristia Harrison DBE joined a panel of senior leaders from across the telecoms sector to celebrate the first anniversary of the Women in Tech pledge. Signed in June 2023, the pledge aims to help more women build technology careers in the telecoms industry. Having a talented and diverse workforce to meet the technological evolution in an increasingly digital world is vital to its future success. Especially in the telecoms sector. On the panel, Tristia emphasised the importance of focusing on young people and skills to encourage the ‘female tech stars of tomorrow’, as well as the need for mentoring and sponsorship as part of a career journey to support progression. And focusing on diversity in its broadest sense helps to create a truly inclusive workplace culture, which we strive for at TalkTalk. Our TalkTalk Women in Tech Awards is one example of how we work across the tech and telecoms industry to elevate and celebrate the women doing amazing work across the sector. Working together we will help get more women into technology roles.   Ofcom BT Group Virgin Media O2 Openreach #WomenInTechnology #InclusionMatters

What a day! 🏳🌈 We had so much fun at this year’s Pink Picnic, celebrating our local LGBTQ+ community in Salford.   We sponsored the PinkPLUS VIP area this year and it was great to meet so many friendly faces and celebrate Pride month together. We had bean bags, deck chairs and cupcakes for all!   It's our 6th year of supporting our local Pride event and it's always one to remember. If you joined us, what was your highlight of the day?   #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #Pride #PinkPicnic

“In 2024, the need for high-quality and accessible information about online safety remains as acute as it was ten years ago, if not more – for parents and young people to feel supported in the digital world. As a founding member of Internet Matters, we’ve championed its remarkable work and clear impact,” said TalkTalk Group CEO, and interim Chair of Internet Matters Ltd, Tristia Harrison DBE at the 10-year celebration of the online safety expert earlier this week.   In 2014, the four major ISPs joined together to collaborate on internet safety for families who were the first generation to be dealing with the online world. Internet Matters was created – a not-for-profit organisation for internet safety. This week’s event highlighted the crucial work performed by the Internet Matters team over the last decade, and the impact of the invaluable collaboration between its founders and members to make the online world a safer place for all.   Dame Tristia said: “At TalkTalk we know that providing fast, reliable and affordable connectivity must go hand in hand with a commitment to keeping customers safe online – a continuous piece of work to support over 4m households using the internet every day.”   It is a reminder that as technologies evolve, collaboration is vital for keeping each other safe online.

#PrideMonth is a reminder that real inclusion is about more than what we do in one month. TalkPride network lead, Todd Bennett, has shared his thoughts about the importance of meaningful actions that go beyond June.   TalkPride is our employee-led LGBTQ+ community which strives for inclusion, and supports, educates and connects all colleagues at every level of the business.   How do you think companies can better support belonging in the workplace?   #InclusionMatters #LGBTQ #Pride #EmployeeNetworks
