More Great News from The EKG Group: The EKG Group LLC and delaware North America collaborated on a new version of their mobile SAP EWM warehouse application for Apple iOS. Our solution leverages existing APIs developed by Delaware to work on Android but will now work with the enhanced user-friendly interface on Apples’ iOS. According to Richard Seel, Partner at Delaware, “this means having an Apple product that isn’t a limited edition, constrained within a building or purely operating within the SAP warehouse solution. Instead, our iOS app with our API connectors can connect across multiple SAP and Non-SAP warehouse systems. This iOS app enables us to improve our operations in complex warehouses where other mobile applications fall short.” Gerry Mecca, Principal at EKG Group, “this application will work for any EWM user and eliminates much of the clumsiness that goes with getting on a device other than an Apple. Also, we can leverage traditional Apple capabilities, such as facial ID and the ability to stay connected, regardless of the strength of the signal, either in the building or over the broadband.“ When this mobile app was demonstrated at an Apple private event during the fall, the interest was high amongst the community. The product can be seen live this June 3-5th at SAP Sapphire in Orlando Booth #320 or by contacting Richard Seel at Delaware directly. The EKG Group is an IT solutions provider based in Dallas specializing in private and public M&A, IT Strategy and Custom Development. Their information can be found at http://www.ekggroupllc.com. Last night at the Association for Business Technology Professionals DFW meeting Gerry Mecca of The EKG Group LLC delivered a snippet of how businesses (and IT) can "Nurture" innovation in a corporation. His presentation and Q&A touched on how innovators can't just be ideators but must employ a rigor around taking ideas to inventions to innovations that make money or avoid cost. He cited numerous personal success stories and contrasted some different types of innovations over recent history. If you missed it reach out to Gerry via LinkedIn. But here's a few takeaways: 🌟 Sponsorship, Team & Mindset - Get an executive sponsor who knows you deliver. Recruit a diverse team from all parts of the business and customer then clean the pallet to generate fresh thought i.e. no idea is a bad one. 🌟 Sensible Budget - Agree to an investment amount - usually a low discretionary figure - and establish a set of rules for spending. Get sponsor sign-off. 🌟 Sustainable market orientation - Brainstorm from the view of the market and something that can be sustained. If you should "just do it" then DO! 🌟 Strong brainstorming and affinization - All ideas must be considered to maintain the buy-in of all levels but those that can be grouped and further investigated will help hone in on the "Greatest" Value at Stake (GVAS) and win the business for the support of a minimum viable product (MVP), and resulting pilot (KPI measured), iteration or kill, and subsequent full rollout. 🌟 Scientific requirements reasoning - Avoids bias and includes all the true requirements needed to prove value realization. Use the 5 "Whys" of Continuous Improvement, GEMBA, and the "Problem and Persona Definition" of Design Think. 🌟 Strong governance - Finally, agree that there will be no investment beyond the MVP without strong Executive Governance and approval. No Pilot starts without unanimous support if a pilot proves successful through preset goals and objectives, no project is sacred, and no rollout happens unless approved by governance and processed through the usual company funding mechanism. Innovation cannot get "special" treatment. By following these guidelines and presuming success, businesses can build Innovation Incubators and fund every one of them without concern for being labeled Toy Makers or Money Pits which is often experienced by companies that have tried to innovate without the proper rigor.
