🚀 Big News! Thyme Care Announces $95M Series C in STAT! Today, Thyme Care announced its $95 capital raise via an exclusive story in STAT.  Thank you to health tech reporter Mohana Ravindranath for sharing the Thyme Care story and specifically highlighting our unique financial arrangements with payers and providers to improve the cancer care experience and reduce the total cost of care. Our mission is to transform cancer care by delivering high-quality, cost-effective solutions that improve patient outcomes. Here's what this new funding will help us achieve: 💛 Enhanced Patient Support: Our care navigation services and Care Team ensure that cancer patients receive comprehensive support throughout their treatment journey, reducing hospitalizations and preventing conditions from worsening. 🏥 Cost Savings and Value: By partnering with oncology practices, primary care groups, and health plans, Thyme Care assumes two-sided financial risk to align payment incentives with care quality. We leverage data and technology to exceed our savings goals. 📈 Expanded Reach: Today, Thyme Care actively manages 10,000 patients and over half a billion dollars in medical spend; we aim to triple both within the next year to broaden our national impact. “These kinds of risk-bearing arrangements aren’t exactly new, but Thyme Care is among the first to apply them to cancer care,” experts and investors tell STAT. A huge thank you to our dedicated team, partners, and visionary investors for believing in our mission. We couldn’t be more proud to share this achievement with you. Breaking Down Stigmas Around Palliative Care For patients with cancer, heart failure, dementia, amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, strokes, and many other serious illnesses, robust data correlate early palliative care with reduced hospitalization, higher survival rates, improved pain management, lower medical costs, better mental health, and improved quality of life. However, despite that bounty of advantages, only a fraction of our patients who would benefit from early palliative care actually get it. In addition to other access barriers, the pervasive misconception remains that palliative care equals hospice. In a recent article for Oncology News Central, Thyme Care's medical director for palliative care Dr. Julia Frydman and American Oncology Network chief medical officer Dr. Stephen "Fred" Divers break down the clinician and patient stigmas around palliative care, highlight the benefits of early adoption during cancer treatment, and the industry trends moving palliative care to the forefront of healthcare delivery. 📰 Read the full article here: Stigmas About Palliative Care Are Harming Our Seriously Ill Patients https://lnkd.in/g73fXdvS

As Gen Xers enter their 60s, they are projected to see higher cancer rates than Boomers. Not only that, the types of cancers on the rise among Generation X are different than for Boomers, and appear in all racial and ethnic groups other than Asian or Pacific Islander men. It is suspected that this may be due to environmental changes, such as pesticides, toxic chemicals, and air pollutants. Research has also shown that obesity, increasingly sedentary lifestyles, and early cancer detection may be impacting the rising cancer rates. As we enter this next phase of cancer care, investments in cancer-prevention research will become critically important in informing how to counteract this trend. In today's healthcare landscape, "whole-person care" has become more than a trendy phrase; it is a dynamic approach to patient well-being. Brian Dorsey, our VP of Clinical Innovation, explains this in-depth in a recent blog post. At Thyme Care, we’ve developed a whole-person care delivery model for cancer care that brings care teams, providers, and community organizations together to deliver on members’ holistic needs throughout their care journey. This approach isn't about simply treating cancer; it's about understanding individuals as human beings with diverse needs and aspirations.
