Check out the new mural at Luella Lofts! The most recent addition to our portfolio, Luella is UD+P's inaugural ground-up apartment development in Sacramento. The building's namesake, Luella Johnston, was the first woman elected to Sacramento's City Council in 1912, just a year after California gave women the right to vote. In July, our mural artist, Franceska Gamez, completed installation of the mural on the south side of the building. Highly visible to anyone using the adjacent light rail station and to residents accessing the building through its main entrance, the mural is inspired by the art and symbolism that emerged from the women's suffrage movement. It pays homage to Johnston and other pioneering suffragettes of the early 20th Century. The armored woman with the calvary horn depicted in the mural was employed by the Women's Political Union and the trumpeter symbolized a "call to action." We're excited to introduce new housing and art that contributes to the vibrancy of the historic Midtown neighborhood! We are ecstatic to share some BIG news on this last day of the quarter! Luella Lofts, our new apartment community in Sacramento, received its Temporary Certificate of Occupancy (TCO) today. As with every new construction project, we've had to overcome a few hurdles to get here, but we are thrilled with the end result. With nearly 1/3 of units pre-leased and our first move-ins scheduled for Monday, Luella's arrival has been widely anticipated. We are proud of our team for delivering 51 new homes to Midtown, a vibrant, mixed-use neighborhood in central Sacramento. Thank you to our partners MarketOne Builders, Inc., Ellis Architects and FPI Management, and to our exceptional and devoted project manager, Danny Milman, for shepherding this project to successful completion. We're looking forward to attending ULI's Building for Climate Resilience event this Thursday at the Avenue, Portland's premiere event space. The esteemed presenter lineup for this program includes PSU professor, Vivek Shandas, Clackamas County Resilience Coordinator, Jay Wilson, and Craig Stockbridge, Principal, GBD Architects. The presentation will be followed by happy hour and networking. Please join us! https://lnkd.in/dme-Sata
We know that the climate in the Pacific Northwest is getting warmer and less predictable. These imminent changes increase risks for regional development and real estate industries since we presume that the past conditions of the physical environments will be the same as the future. In response, "climate resilience" has become a buzzword, but what does it mean? Come join us as we tackle these questions through a discussion that seeks to close the gap between theory and practice. Led by PSU professor Vivek Shandas, an expert in the field of climate resilience, this discussion and the following networking event will offer in depth knowledge for better aligning current practices with a changing planet. SPECIAL THANKS TO OUR SPONSOR Portland General Electric Pence Contractors Interested in sponsoring this event or others like it? Reach out to northwest@uli.org.

We are thrilled to share that Adams Creek Cohousing, our multigenerational cohousing project in Hood River, Oregon, received its temporary certificate of occupancy (TCO) last week. This is a significant milestone involving years of planning and dedication on the part of community members and our professional partners, ETHAN BECK HOMES, INC., MFA | Architecture and Planning, CoHousing Solutions and Lew Bowers. Several resident households have moved in during the past few days. It's wonderful to see the community transition from an active construction site to a place where members are living and settling into their new homes. As anyone in the development industry knows, getting projects built hasn't been easy with all the challenges of the pandemic and post-pandemic reality the past few years. We are grateful for the teamwork that led to this success and we're proud to bring 25 new housing units to Hood River and the fabulous Columbia Gorge! #cohousing #adamscreekcohousing #mtadams #community #multigenerationalliving #aginginplace #hoodriver #housingproduction #livingtogether #buildingcommunity
