*TUESDAY TIPS* Assignments! Have you been on a job search and been asked to complete a task, such as how you’d answer an email, handle a particular issue, draft a report, present a deck, etc? If so, consider yourself lucky! It means the employer is very interested in you and could potentially make an offer! This is the time to take the time and do it well. Be thoughtful. Don’t throw something together. And please, use spell check. You have the chance to show how great you are, so be great! Ensure that their desk, email, welcome materials, training program, mentor/person to welcome and show them around have been taken care of before they start on their first day. Imagine a new employee showing up to work and having no where to sit, no email or IT set up, and feeling completely lost. They will think they’ve walked into an unorganized organization. Am I exaggerating? It happens all the time. We know you’re busy, but be prepared for your new hire, so you can set them up for success.
