We’re funding almost $160 million in grants to help reduce climate pollution from the production of construction materials and products, which accounts for ~15% of annual global greenhouse gas emissions. https://lnkd.in/gmTdcSjE

About us
U.S. Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) mission is to protect human health and the environment. EPA works to ensure that: - Americans have clean air, land and water; - National efforts to reduce environmental risks are based on the best available scientific information; - Federal laws protecting human health and the environment are administered and enforced fairly, effectively and as Congress intended; - Environmental stewardship is integral to U.S. policies concerning natural resources, human health, economic growth, energy, transportation, agriculture, industry, and international trade, and these factors are similarly considered in establishing environmental policy; - All parts of society--communities, individuals, businesses, and state, local and tribal governments--have access to accurate information sufficient to effectively participate in managing human health and environmental risks; - Contaminated lands and toxic sites are cleaned up by potentially responsible parties and revitalized; and - Chemicals in the marketplace are reviewed for safety. The agency was founded in 1970 and is headquartered in Washington, District of Columbia with ten additional regional headquarters offices (Boston, New York, Philadelphia, Atlanta, Chicago, Dallas, Kansas City, Denver, San Francisco, and Seattle) as well as more than a dozen laboratories, and other regional and programmatic offices.

People who live or work near farms can be unintentionally exposed to pesticides. By assessing the amount of a pesticide that drifts, EPA can then identify the measures to protect people from unintended pesticide exposure. This new policy will ensure that any needed protections are in place when a pesticide is initially approved – so people don’t have to wait years for the protections they need. 🔗https://lnkd.in/eXwTWhEH

Have you noticed a waterbody suddenly turned the color of pea soup? Or do you see green clumps, mats, flakes or filaments floating in a water body? Then you may be witnessing a potentially toxic algal bloom. 🫢 Warming water, droughts, and sea level rise can make harmful algal blooms, which can harm human health or aquatic ecosystems. Harmful algal blooms can produce dangerous toxins that sicken or kill people and animals (livestock or pets), create low oxygen/dead zones in the water, threaten access to water and/or raise its treatment costs, and hurt industries that depend on clean water. You can help report suspected harmful cyanobacterial blooms using EPA's bloomWatch application. Learn more ⬇️ https://lnkd.in/eF4ZQQ4T
