All residents and team members at Wesley on Grand in Des Moines are safe and the community remains open to all following storm damage to the campus early this evening. Generators are providing power to affected parts of the campus, and some phone service might be impacted. If you are trying to reach someone there this evening, you are welcome to leave a message here and we’ll do our best to get it to them. Sending our best wishes to everyone else coping with storm damage tonight!

Passionate about transforming attitudes toward aging.
About us
We don’t buy into the stigma of ageism. We believe everyone should have the opportunity to live a life of continued growth, experience, and meaning — and to pursue joy, regardless of physical, social, or economic circumstances. The experience of aging is shaped by each person — as they see it, define it, and experience it. To demonstrate our commitment to this belief, we have taken up the torch to be the most dynamic and inclusive champion to revolutionize the experience of aging. We serve residents of independent and assisted living, rehabilitation, and memory support. We also offer clients services including home care, adult day, home-delivered meals, and hospice. As a nonprofit organization guided by Christian compassion, we were founded more than 75 years ago as a place for aging Methodist ministers and their spouses to call home. Today, our services are delivered by 1,300 part- and full-time passionate team members throughout the state with a focus on creating opportunities to pursue joy!

The National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization and the advocacy organization We Honor Veterans have recognized WesleyLife Hospice as the nation's first hospice partner to complete the Community Nursing Home Initiative pilot program. Developed with the U.S. Department of Veterans Affairs, the program works to improve hospice care for terminally ill veterans in Veterans Administration-contracted communities for older adults, engaging the communities to provide specialized education to help team members care for veterans at the end of life. As a Level 4 partner of We Honor Veterans — expected to reach the top tier, Level 5, next year — WesleyLife Hospice has fulfilled program requirements such as the implementation of veteran-specific intake and screening procedures, veteran hospice volunteer recruitment, and community partner engagement. Since its affiliation with the program in 2014, WesleyLife Hospice has impacted the lives of countless veterans and their families. Congratulations to the WesleyLife Hospice team — part of the WesleyLife at Home team, pictured here — on this national accolade! #hospice #healthandwellbeing #veterans

WesleyLife Week is fun, to be sure - but it's about much more. It's about honoring our heritage as an organization: our faith foundation, our commitment to service, and our determination to help people live lives of purpose, meaning, and joy. As we wrap up the week, enjoy this sampling of photos from all our locations. Some illustrate a community’s commitment to giving back; others demonstrate connection and camaraderie. One thing they ALL have in common is gratitude - for our team members, and for those we serve. Here’s to our next 77 years! #wesleylifeweek #healthandwellbeing #heritage #excellence #innovation

The Village, a WesleyLife Community in Indianola, hosted an outdoor fair today to wrap up WesleyLife Week, with proceeds going to the community’s Good Shepherd Fund. The fund helps ensure that residents who deplete their financial resources through no fault of their own will not be asked to leave the community. The event included live music, face painting, a bounce house and a slide, cotton candy, snow cones, and more. A good time was had by family, friends, and visitors! #healthandwellbeing #wesleylifeweek Heather Venz-Frank Ward Phillips Monica Vail

A big thank you” to Hy-Vee, an important donor to WesleyLife Meals on Wheels, for arranging for professional racing drivers Christian Lundgaard and David Malukas to deliver meals to our Meals on Wheels clients today in advance of the upcoming Hy-Vee IndyCar Race Weekend! The drivers enjoyed visiting the Meals on Wheels campus and hydroponic farm, and clients enjoyed visiting with the drivers and receiving special themed gifts from Hy-Vee. We appreciate the drivers’ time today — and are grateful, as always, for Hy-Vee’s partnership in combating food insecurity in the Des Moines area. #healthandwellbeing #philanthropy #indycar #hyvee Hy-Vee, Inc. Yes, WesleyLife Week is fun - but it’s also about enhancing our organizational culture and showing our deep appreciation for one another and those we serve. Stay tuned throughout the week as we continue to celebrate turning 77! #healthandwellbeing #wesleylifeweek Allison Pendroy Ward Phillips Krista Van Hooser-Perin, Ph.D Paris Sandoval
