  • Given the ongoing excessive heat warning in the Yuma community, there is a heightened risk of contact burns from hot surfaces. Dr. Casey Noroyan from the YRMC Emergency Department has advised the community to exercise increased caution when outdoors during peak heat hours to prevent such heat-related injuries. It is crucial to wear appropriate footwear when walking outside to prevent burns on the soles of your feet. • The YRMC Volunteer Services Department was thrilled to host our annual Healthcare Career Camp last week, inspiring the next generation of healthcare leaders! More than 20 high school and college students shadowed professionals from various departments across YRMC and participated in hospital tours, classroom lectures, Q&A sessions, and interactive activities. They practiced their skills in the cath lab, labor & delivery, explored a wide range of specialties, and so much more. This week was a valuable experience for those who want to enter the healthcare industry and we're proud to have been a part of their journey towards a career in healthcare.

  • Last night, we celebrated a profound milestone: 10 years of dedicated and compassionate cancer care at Yuma Regional Medical Center, accompanied by the third Art Heals exhibit. This evening was not just a celebration but a heartfelt tribute to the strength, resilience, and hope of our patients and community. For this special occasion, we invited artists from the Yuma area to submit artwork that captures the essence of serenity, health, hope, and joy. The Art Heals exhibit, a testament to the healing power of art, features pieces selected by a panel of survivors and patients. These works of art will grace the walls of the Yuma Regional Cancer Center, offering comfort and inspiration. The evening was filled with moving moments, as artists and community members came together to experience the beauty and emotional depth of the exhibit. Attendees toured the display, learning the stories and inspirations behind each piece and witnessing firsthand the transformative impact of art in the healing process. We extend our deepest gratitude to all the artists who participated and shared their talents with us. Your contributions have not only beautified our Cancer Center but have also provided a source of solace and hope for our patients and survivors. Thank you for being a part of this special celebration and for helping us continue our mission of compassionate care. "Art is a form of love. Art is the ultimate gift. Art heals life." - Robert Genn

  • During YRMC Innovation Week in the fall of 2023, Carol Smith, R.N., a dedicated nurse, and Alexis Liggett, a former Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) parent, presented a heartwarming proposal named "Tiny Moments that Matter" at YRMC's annual Shark Tank event. They advocated for a welcoming and supportive space for NICU families. Their pitch struck a chord with the judges, and thanks to the generous donors of the foundation of YRMC, this project has now become a reality. The NICU Family Room provides a quiet sanctuary for parents to gather strength, receive private updates from doctors, and even learn crucial skills needed to care for their newborns at home. Thank you to the Foundation of YRMC for supporting this initiative, a shining example of YRMC's commitment to family-centered care, offering a beacon of hope and comfort during a challenging time.

  • The newly wrapped Mobile Health Clinic made its debut Wednesday morning! The Foundation of YRMC is thanking our donors for their support of this special service, which helps us improve access to care and build a healthier tomorrow. YRMC family and community medical residents will begin using the Mobile Clinic in August, at the start of the school year, when it will park outside of Fourth Ave Junior High and Roosevelt Elementary School. Our doctors will treat students at these schools for wellness and sick visits as part of YRMC's School Healthcare Program. The Mobile Clinic will later be used at community outreach events attended by our medical residents, like the Territorial Marathon, and will be used to treat patients throughout the region. Special thanks to Blue Cross Blue Shield of Arizona Foundation for Community and Health Advancement, Epic Systems, Vizient, Inc and our own Foundation of YRMC for their generous donations and support of this wonderful program.
