This six-week, in-person course will teach you to lead meditative practices for individuals or small groups. Participation is free without certification. Last evening, we had the honor of attending the Annual Membership Meeting of the Los Angeles Alliance for Community and Aging (LAACHA), where our Senior Services Elderly Nutrition Program was recognized with heartfelt appreciation. This award celebrates the success of our partnership in providing technological assistance to over 300 seniors within the San Gabriel Valley. Among our many strategic partnerships, this one holds a special place in our hearts due to its profound impact on the lives of our elderly community members. The event featured YWCA-USA CEO Margaret Mitchell, community partners, and other YWCA affiliates, addressing the challenges women face today and highlighting the efforts of local sexual assault crisis centers. Recognizing the negative impacts of social media can be challenging, but it’s important to set boundaries and discuss your feelings with someone when you are feeling overwhelmed. Signs of social media distress can include anxiety, depression, and compulsive checking. YWCA-SGV is collaborating with Social Media Research Institute and Department of Public Health to offer a Social Media First Aid Training, which includes setting usage limits, engaging in offline activities, and curating positive content! While social media can be a powerful tool for connection and information, it’s crucial to use it mindfully.
