Historically, health care providers seeking patients’ information for treatment purposes have been guided by HIPAA’s definition for Treatment and related regulatory guidance. Over the last month, there have been many discussions at the federal level about narrowing the Treatment use cases that require a response under the Trusted Exchange Framework and Common Agreement (TEFCA), a new federally-endorsed health information exchange network that is designed to simplify connectivity between organizations, improve patient care, and enhance population welfare. Last week Zus Health participated in several meetings in Washington D.C. where we advocated for providers’ rights to access patient data for treatment purposes under TEFCA. Our efforts helped ensure that the treatment use cases of our customers, including those of the value-based care community, remain protected. Yesterday, the Department of Health and Human Services Office of the Office of the National Coordinator for Health Information Technology (ONC) released a new Exchange Purpose (XP) Implementation SOP for Treatment that codified the new approach, and which narrows the treatment use cases that require response under TEFCA: https://lnkd.in/e_DFfBgs At Zus Health, we remain committed to promoting and prioritizing #interoperability and exchange of health care data, and look forward to working with the ONC on ways to improve and expand the reach of TEFCA. We also want to extend our #gratitude to our #customers for their trust and support, and to our external partners, including Kno2, who have collaborated with us in this endeavor. Together, we are shaping the future of #healthcareinteroperability and helping our customers focus on what they do best: #delivering #exceptional #patientcare.

Join us behind the scenes at the 16th Association for Corporate Growth (ACG) Healthcare Conference, where Andrew Colbert and Richard Zall chat with Zus Health CEO Jonathan Bush about the work we are doing at Zus to turn data into information and insights at point of care. "With 97% of valuable healthcare data sitting unused, the ability to create a seamless, reliable, common -- and there's a lot of work to these words -- version of a patient record that all care teams can see and that doesn't care what ehr your doctor is on," will change the landscape of care in the U.S. says Jonathan. #interoperability #boostingoutcomes #healthcaredata

The first thing any good engineer, business leader, or operator learns is that you should never build a system with a single point of failure...and yet, that increasingly seems to be where we have landed with our current healthcare system. How might we begin to rectify these vulnerabilities and avoid some of the recent chaos that has befallen U.S. care delivery? Jonathan Bush put together some thoughts on where we can go from here -- check out our newest blog drop below: https://hubs.la/Q02w9hh40

Earlier this month, the Zus team gathered in Houston with local healthcare innovators, including featured guest Imagine Pediatrics, to discuss the current state of healthcare interoperability and how the industry can work together to make progress. The group included a wide range of folks across clinical care, operations, product, and policy roles, and it was energizing to hear the different perspectives shared and to see them converge on similar challenges and goals. For details on what these challenges and goals are, head over to the blog post below by product marketing manager Sarah Healy - and keep an eye out for our next dinner in a new city! https://hubs.la/Q02vxDBW0
