At the heart of this grant is the conviction that gaining clarity around our shaping moments throughout our lives and the stories that describe them, despite vulnerability, is an act of courage. By choosing courage and facing our fears, we discover what makes us human and what it means to be authentically us.

A student's ability to form meaningful connections with others hinges on their willingness to get clear, be heard, and be known for who they truly are. At Friars Believe, we hope to discover and support young, vibrant minds who are unafraid to be themselves and empower those who choose to share and articulate their stories with clarity, honesty, and vulnerability. We believe deeply in the power of story and the reach of their unique voices.

This grant will never be about academic achievements or traditional measures of success; it's about the student, their journey, struggles, victories, and beliefs. Show less

For more than 40 years, we have been home to a diverse community of talented young musicians and have acted as a springboard for achieving full musical and personal potential. Our passionate and experienced teaching artists provide access to high-quality music education, engaging over 2,500 students annually at our downtown location and in area schools and community centers.

Merit students, who reflect the socioeconomic and ethnic diversity of Chicago, have the rare opportunity to learn together, dream together, teach each other, and broaden their horizons as they build inspiring lives through music. The GSOF fills a critical gap in the national security discourse: leading an effort to link like-minded public and private entities and to increase understanding of the role that Special Operations can play in addressing global security challenges, especially those emanating from unconventional and transnational sources. The GSOF is not a traditional charity but a professional association for SOF dedicated to advocating for SOF globally.
