California is charging forward with its electrification efforts, but even with one of the most advanced and equipped grids, it’s still not prepared. A new study found that California will need to spend somewhere between $6 and $20 billion to improve the grid — a big and varied estimate. Nonetheless, it points to the amount of work that needs to be done. By 2035: about half of the feeders will be overloaded. Unsurprisingly, there’s some discrepancy. Locations with heavy home charging will experience more pressure, but business districts will experience less. Investing to upgrade electric grids is non-negotiable. But there’s more we can do. That includes selling energy back to the grid, encouraging and incentivizing EV owners to charge during off-peak times and to build up public charging infrastructure. That’s something ParkMyFleet is dedicated to working towards. It's interesting to consider the application of this InductEV product in areas like PepsiCo loading docks, where Tesla or other electric trucks are being utilized. Given the typical loading time, you could eliminate the need for traditional charging, which greatly improves fleet productivity and the TCO equation for commercial EVs.

The North American EV-charging landscape continues to change. 🧐 As Tesla announced layoffs on the Supercharger team, Rivian did the opposite by sharing positive news about a new charging network that all battery-electric vehicles can use. 🤝⚡️ This new DC fast charging system will support Rivian vehicles and other EVs with Combined Charging System (CCS) and North American Charging Standard (NACS) adaptors. 🔌 The current Rivian Adventure Network is gradually spreading across North America, with current DC fast charging available in adventurous locations like Salida, Colorado; Sedona, Arizona; and Truckee, California. The automaker is adding more locations for its EV charging infrastructure along busy highways, and the new chargers will assist EV drivers on their road trips. EV chargers are catching up to gas stations in California A lack of easy access to charging is one of the most commonly cited obstacles to growing EV sales. Everyone from Ford Motor Co.’s CEO to the U.S. secretary of energy has run into issues finding an electric charger. And even if you can find a charger during a road trip, JD Power has found that 1 in 5 attempts to use a public EV charger fail. More than 1.84 million ZEVs have been sold in California to date, according to the governor’s office. More than a third of all ZEVs sold in the U.S. are sold in California. If California seceded from the U.S. and became its own country, it would be the fourth-largest seller of EVs worldwide, behind Germany, the U.S., and China.

ICYMI: Starting this summer, new state rebates of up to $9,000 will be available to help cover the cost of leasing or purchasing electric vehicles in Washington. This initiative is part of the state's efforts to transition away from fossil fuels and combat climate change. With these rebates, electric vehicles will become more accessible to a wider range of residents, helping to democratize this emerging automotive technology. Combined with federal and automaker incentives, monthly lease payments on certain EV models could be less than $100 for qualifying consumers. They have a brain. Unlike most fire consultants who still think EV chargers cause fires in EV,s like cars, buses and trucks. The fire industry needs to stop milking the clients and making rash calls on EV's and implementing extravagant fire safety requirements which is contradicting the actual risk of fire in the first place.You have a far, far greater chance of ice vehicles catching fire and burning other vehicle and putting out toxic smoke than EVs. Time to acknowledge this Fact! If you mandated fire walls between all cars in a car park I could somewhat support your thinking but to isolate it to EVs is just abysmal judgement.

Elon Musk is on the warpath. Now that the electric vehicle industry is no longer growing exponentially, he’s pivoting toward robotics, having sacked more than a tenth of his workforce, shelved plans to build a low-cost car, and fired his head of fast charging. While adjustments in headcount are inevitable, Musk’s decision to also sack Rebecca Tinucci’s entire Supercharger team—while at the same time plowing $10 billion this year alone into an AI strategy—sparked confusion and bewilderment in the ranks of a Tesla community that once believed the company would grow EV sales tenfold from current levels by 2030.
