Measurements in Packaging. In various industries, ranging from manufacturing to packaging, understanding and being able to convert different units of measurement for material thickness is essential - common units used for this purpose are gauge, micron, and millimeter. Whether you are dealing with polythene films or other materials, having a dependable conversion guide can streamline processes and ensure accuracy in measurements. Converting Measurements Using a Conversion Table: Polyethylene gauge (ga) can be converted to micron (mu) by dividing it by 4, and the thickness in millimeters (mm) can be determined by dividing the micron value by 1000. An example of this would be 50mu equaling 200ga, which is equivalent to 0.05mm. The thickness of your polythene can range from ultra-light (typically between 32-50ga) to super heavy (1000-1200ga), so it is important to make accurate calculations. Our conversion table below states how each measurement converts to another, enabling you to make informed decisions and perform accurate measurements with confidence. Where Might These Measurements Be Used? Micron and gauge measurements are used to determine the thickness of materials in a number of different industries, whereas millimeters, meters and inches are used more commonly in everyday life. Micron and gauge measurements are extensively used in the packaging industry to determine the thickness of materials such as plastic films, shrink wraps, and packaging foils. These measurements are crucial for ensuring the durability and protection of packaged goods. Micron and gauge measurements are also used in the manufacturing industry, to specify the thickness of materials such as metal sheets, rubber, textiles, and various types of films. Why Is It Important to Measure the Correct Thickness? In the packaging industry, accurate conversions are important for ensuring that the quality of your packaging is up to standard. If the thickness of your film falls below the correct specifications, this can lead to packaging failures, such as splitting, bursting, or leaking, meaning it is less effective at protecting goods. Also, plastic packaging materials that do not meet the correct thickness specifications (for example, material that is stretched too thin during the packaging production process) can be less effective at blocking oxygen and other contaminants, potentially causing rapid product degradation. Quick Pak Inc is a leading supplier of polyethylene packaging products. We have 25 years of experience within this industry and can supply polyethylene products manufactured for your individual needs. Contact us at 813 242 6995 or sales@quickpakinc.com

Types of Strapping Available and their Applications Below is a quick run-through of the types of strapping and their suitability: Polypropylene Strapping: If the product you are strapping is quite light, you could use Polypropylene strapping as it is an economical option designed for securing light shipments such as your single cartons. It is the most common type of strapping, available in different dimensions, and can easily be applied manually. Polyester (PET) Strapping: This is the strongest type of plastic strapping available with impressive elongation and recovery characteristics. Due to its design, it offers very tight packaging and is capable of resisting pressure or harsh weather conditions. Polyester (PET) Strapping is light, flexible, and can be used in place of steel strapping due to its strength. It can be applied using manual tools. Poly Woven Strapping: This strapping solution is highly effective and suitable for a wide range of industrial uses due to its rigidity. As the name implies, it consists of filaments woven together to provide extra compatibility. It is as strong as steel strapping and can withstand harsh chemicals or weather conditions. Composite Strapping: it is highly efficient, in the sense that it is flexible, very strong, absorbs shock, and can resist tension and harsh conditions. It is suitable for a wide range of industrial applications and can be used manually. Steel Strapping: If you are considering using the strongest and toughest strapping solution available, then steel strapping is your sure bet. With the highest tensile strength, it is suitable for transporting heavy shipments over very long distances. However, due to its sharp edges, we advise you to use suitable PPE while using steel strapping. Regardless of the type of shipment to be strapped, one or more of these types of strapping solutions will meet your requirements. Now that you know the available options and their applications, you will find it easier to choose the right strapping.

Knowledge Itself is Power – Sir Francis Bacon No matter what industry we work in, all of us are expected to continue learning about our field and doing our jobs to the best of our abilities. For some of us, we may want to earn bigger and better positions in our industry. For others, our employers or professional associations may require specific activities to make sure we are fulfilling our responsibilities. Whatever reason applies in your situation, the answer is often some form of additional training or learning. One term that is often brought up in this context is “continuing education” and InCan Consulting Group has developed the right programs for the canmaking industry. The term “continuing education” describes one type of professional development in which an employee pursues additional learning from a higher education organization to excel in his/her daily responsibilities. Continuing education can be a vital lifeline to success and worthwhile employment. Not only do canmaking industry and technologies change, but employment can also change at any time. Continuing education can be worth it because it prepares working canmakers for such eventualities. Did you find this helpful? Pro-tip: Use urethane for small-volume dunnage projects to save on tooling costs without sacrificing parts safety. Recent advancements in wood and epoxy tooling have made urethane dunnage a cost-effective option for lower-volume projects. The wood or epoxy tooling typically costs less than $2,000, a lot less than injection molding or thermoforming tooling. Urethane is also a great choice for parts like: - Doors - Hoods - Engines - Decklids - Parts with hemmed edges - Most other metal components Need extra durability? We can reinforce your dunnage with wood or steel inserts for added strength. Don't feel like you have to blow your dunnage budget due to volume constraints. Let's explore how our affordable urethane dunnage can meet your specific needs. 📧 contact@tw-msr.com 📞 734-717-0516

THE NEGATIVE EFFECTS OF CHINESE SIGN IMPORTS ON US SIGN MANUFACTURERS In recent years, the influx of Chinese imports has had a profound impact on various industries in the United States. Among the sectors significantly affected is the signage manufacturing industry. While globalization and international trade have brought numerous benefits, including lower costs for consumers, the surge in Chinese sign imports has posed several challenges for domestic manufacturers. This article explores the negative effects of these imports on US sign manufacturers and the broader implications for the industry. PRICE UNDERCUTTING AND PROFIT MARGINS One of the most immediate and evident impacts of Chinese sign imports is the significant price undercutting. Chinese manufacturers can produce signs at a fraction of the cost due to lower labor costs, government subsidies, and economies of scale. This allows them to sell their products at prices that US manufacturers struggle to match. As a result, American companies often have to lower their prices to remain competitive, squeezing their profit margins and making it difficult to invest in new technologies or expand their operations. JOB LOSSES AND ECONOMIC IMPACT The competitive pressure from cheaper Chinese imports has led to job losses in the US sign manufacturing sector. Many American companies have been forced to downsize or shut down altogether due to the inability to compete on price. This not only affects the workers directly employed in these factories but also has a ripple effect on the local economies that rely on these businesses. The loss of jobs reduces consumer spending power, affecting other local businesses and services. QUALITY AND SAFETY CONCERNS While lower prices can be attractive, they often come at the cost of quality. Many US manufacturers argue that Chinese signs do not always meet the stringent quality and safety standards that American products adhere to. Inferior materials and manufacturing processes can lead to signs that are less durable, pose safety risks, or fail to comply with local regulations. This can result in higher long-term costs for businesses that opt for cheaper imports due to the need for more frequent replacements and potential liability issues. INTELECTUAL PROPERTY AND INNOVATION The issue of intellectual property (IP) theft is another significant concern. There have been numerous instances where Chinese manufacturers have been accused of copying designs and technologies developed by US companies. This not only undermines the competitive edge of American manufacturers but also discourages innovation. When companies see their patented designs being reproduced cheaply overseas without any recourse, it diminishes the incentive to invest in research and development. CONCLUSION Policymakers, industry leaders, and consumers all have roles to play in supporting American manufacturers and fostering a fair and competitive market. What are your thoughts?

Value Added Packaging is not only a corrugated box plant, we also produce custom foam concepts/creations as part of our services for our customers. We run a ward waterjet in our assembly area that allows us to custom cut components(polyethylene foam) for many of our packages we assemble on site and single sale items. A bit on polyethylene foam: "Polyethylene is closed-cell foam, meaning its structure is made of millions of tiny bubbles, sealed off from each other. This provides a resistance to water, in addition to a strength and rigidity not present in open-cell foams. It is also resistant to solvents, petroleum products, and is antimicrobial as well. Polyethylene returns to form after compression, while still yielding enough to provide cushion and security where it is needed. It is these characteristics, combined with its versatility and customization possibilities, that make it useful in so many applications." Also, with more thought and care being taken with our environment, I do not want to forget to mention that since polyethylene foam is class 4, it is 100% recyclable. PE is melted down, reused, and remolded into similar applications to the original use !

Running numbers and to date, Recruit XL's average time to hire is 2.57 weeks! This includes some very tough searches and does not include our skilled and unskilled labor positions (manufacturing) which would have skewed it much lower. This is a testament to our team, dedication, and most importantly our clients who trust us to be a true partner. While we're happy, we're not complacent. #recruiting #professionalservices #improvement #dedication #teamwork
