You can find a well-structured answer in a wonderful white paper “In search of best practices for Longevity Clinics," which is a solid reference point for longevity practitioners of various backgrounds (linked in the comments). Here are some common “traits” of longevity clinics: ✔ They are focused on measuring biological age using advanced diagnostics such as DNA methylation clocks (e.g., DNAmAge, PhenoAge) and multi-omics approaches. ✔ Such clinics employ comprehensive health assessments including whole genome analysis, precision imaging like MRI and CT scans, and epigenetic testing. The Pregnant Founder. The actual process behind. Not talking about how to get pregnant here, there's plenty of good literature and practical workshops you can do with your partner (or clinic) for that. But how to manage the process being a founder. Here I'll focus on the guiding document for the person in charge within my business. The process I went through, in the last weeks of pregnancy: 1. Set the time I want to give myself and the new baby: for me that's 40 days. I'm not saying in any ways that this is enough, and that it should be used as guidance. That's the number I chose for me, that I gave myself for my 1st baby, and giving for my second baby. 2. Decide who in the business will be the point of contact between me and the business: the Acting-CEO (here, Sarah). 3. Discuss with them at length the different scenarios that might arise as I'm hiding in maternity. Most scenarios will be covered (you can get my actual document I used for the 1st time, and adapted one for the second time around). 4. Set the window of possibility of birth and return to the screen: I'm having a natural birth (hope for), so "safe" window is basically anytime 37 to 42 weeks of pregnancy (before, being premature): i.e. 5 weeks. Fun to manage such a broad window! ;) It was very stressful for me the first time around to think of that broad window but bottom line is: day1 of the window: everything should be set. Any additional day at work is bonus and should be work that can be handed-over directly by me. 5. Set my home-interface person: the Point of Contact. Let me explain that one. My contingency plan is meant to make me as protected as possible from interacting with the business and issues. But there will be questions arising. That person is my partner (John). So the ideal scenario is for the Acting-CEO to reach to The Point of Contact if they have a question. The Point of Contact will come to me, discuss the issue, and ideally I won't have to go online, read emails, or do a call. The Point of Contact and Acting-CEO will be able to agree on the decision and move forward. This is a brilliant part of the plan. 6. Set conditions for when I do have to go online. This happened for my 1st child: a. I had to close a round because some investors were delaying signing/transferring money (investors: trust us when we say we have "a strict deadline ;)). I had to call them, chase for the close, then review and sign legal docs and make sure the transfers were completed. b. We had to re-hire a person. The decision was agreed between the Point of Contact and Acting-CEO at the time, but contract had to be adapted, reviewed and signed by me. 7. Set timing for OOO email (ready to press play): by me, when I get first contractions (I decided to work until the last day). 8. I will be in Salt Lake City next Mon-Wed, June 10-12 to speak about new discoveries leveraging at-home gut and vaginal microbiome profiling and probiotic strain tracking via shotgun metagenomics. Here’s the abstract of my talk: Probiotic companies often have formulations that combine multiple strains and while some individual strains are clinically backed, companies often have challenges generating robust clinical data at the formulation level to support product health claims. Shotgun sequencing presents a more accessible and reliable way for end consumers, nutrition companies and researchers to detect potential colonization and functional effects from these probiotic supplements. These effects are much more pronounced in the infant probiotic space where the infant gut is more uniquely adapted to colonize bifidobacterium probiotics. Founder-Turned-VC Investor Raised $150 Million for Her New Fund💰 Masha Bucher, ex-entrepreneur and founder of Day One Ventures, has raised $150M for her new VC fund. Founded in 2018, Day One Ventures focuses on early-stage startups, offering initial investments ranging from $1M to $2M. Notable companies in the firm’s portfolio include Worldcoin, legal services company DoNotPay Inc., and AI assistant You.com. 📝Diverse Investments and Real-World Impact Day One Ventures supports startups across various industries, with Bucher particularly drawn to founders tackling real-world challenges. “From profound wealth disparities to the urgent threat of climate change and the growing sense of social isolation, tech founders will be our lifeline toward a more abundant, diverse, and sustainable future,” Bucher stated regarding the new fund. 🏆The firm’s track record is impressive, with six of its investments achieving billion-dollar valuations and 22 companies either being sold or going public. This success highlights Day One's knack for identifying high-potential startups. 🎯PR Expertise and Strategic Growth Before transitioning to VC, Bucher founded a PR firm that managed communications for numerous tech companies. A about trends and the Future Health lab from 4PM Ventures For at least 2-3 years, at my speeches at conferences on the topic of Healthtech, I have been telling that the future in medicine lies with platforms. Here are some cases: 1. Application of AI in medicine. First came startups who said: I recognize pneumonia, other tuberculosis, third lung cancer, etc. Clinics looked at all this and told them: it doesn't matter to us that you know how to recognize, a patient came to us, took an MRI (MR spectroscopy scans) or X-ray diagnostic, and we must reliably describe his state of health, and recognize real problems in his health. After that, startups appeared, which began to combine and make an interface between different startups in order to drive the picture to the largest number of nosologies. Other startups have begun mergers and acquisitions to create such platforms. You know the examples yourself, they are easy to google. 2. A more difficult task is faced by those who make medical devices. It is more difficult there: firstly, you need a "smart" medical card where to add the data. Secondly, integration with industry call centers, because clinics do not have their own, but you need to have a service for prompt response to incidents, and also do not forget about technical support (it is expensive to deploy it for one device) and much more. And so, after several attempts and experiments to enter the topic of collecting platforms from various startups, the 4PM Ventures team and I are launching the Future Health Lab, where one of the tasks we will try to create platforms. However, the LP retreat from venture capital in 2023, driven by falling tech stocks and a lackluster IPO market, created significant headwinds for VC firms seeking capital. 📝LPs now hold greater leverage, dictating terms and conditions as capital becomes scarcer in the venture landscape.
