One of the original suburbs of Dallas, it is a piece of Dallas history surrounded by restaurants, shops, and entertainment venues of nearby downtown Dallas, Knox/Henderson and Greenville Avenues. Highlight achievements include:

    * Led team of volunteer attorneys and accountants and personally engaged IRS over an 18-month process to obtain 501(c)(3) Nonprofit Charitable status in 2011.

    * Founding partner of the Lowest Greenville Avenue Neighborhood Coalition, an East Dallas political organization consisting of six neighborhood associations established to address gross code violations and crime issues facilitated by land owners / business operators of late-night establishments in our area. Via numerous meetings with City of Dallas staff, elected officials, landlords, and business owners/operators, as well as public presentations at City Plan Commission and City Council meetings, we partnered with our two elected City Council members to pass a late night business Special Use Permit requirement and $1.4 million in street “calming” improvements. These two measures are now lowering crime and increasing the quality of adjacent residential neighborhood life.

    * Orchestrated VPNA’s 2006/2007 political effort to apply for, and receive, City of Dallas “Conservation District” status, which protects our neighborhood’s architecture styles, land use, and densities, limits structure height, and provides setback guidelines.
