What do you do if customers are upset?
- Listen to the customer's complaint. - Validate their experience. - State honestly that you want to get them satisfied. - Document the conversation. - With your team, esp. leaders, assess what went wrong, whether it could have been avoided, and whether it could have been detected and corrected earlier. - Remediate the problem, whether it be a credit, an apology, a change in your business model (with the customer informed). - Follow up to see how you can continue the business relationship. Note: Some things are beyond your control, and some customers are going to find fault regardless. But if you make an earnest effort to understand and respond, your business will be better for the effort, and in most cases, you will keep your customer.
