I'm seeing a lot of these "expert answers" about frontend development and what does HTML, CSS, and Javascript do. So many of them over complicate it: HTML is content authoring. You are writing a document and should use the tools and formatting available to make it as clearly understood as possible. Most people should be able to write some HTML much like most people can post dross on social networks. However there is a big difference between a coherent, semantically correct HTML doc and some div/span catastrophe. The latter is more like the local racists latest rant with no punctuation, swimming with spelling mistakes, and they've tied themselves in knots over the fact there was once a rainbow flag in Morrisons. CSS is not just about making things "look nice". Yeah it'll make things look better but it's main purpose should be to improve usability, legibility and make your content more understandable. Finally Javascript - Javascript is usually unnecessary and I reckon 90% of the internet could do without it. A lot of the things that Javascript has introduced has made the internet worse, less stable, and less accessible. It's main purpose has been to make frontend development more like a programming discipline, rather than the design discipline it originally was. This is coming from someone who has built their career around frontend development 🤷‍♂️

What if you could eliminate data privacy concerns with your user research videos, security footage, etc., by automatically removing faces and voices? This is a clip from the proof-of-concept demo I’m presenting at Rosenfeld Media’s Designing with AI conference–right now. Videos of our users offer an unbiased record of behaviors that are hard to capture any other way. But from a data privacy perspective, storing videos containing face and voice information is increasingly risky for businesses (as well as their users). AI redaction of users’ voices, faces–and bodies–can give you options for more safely storing recordings for longer. With only a few clicks, we were able to redact a participant’s voice (using ElevenLabs) and body (using Wonder Dynamics Wonder Studio), applying sophisticated audio and visual effects that were previously available only to skilled professionals in the entertainment industry. This project showcases a way to use AI to protect individuals’ privacy rather than threaten it. #DWAI2024 #dataprivacy #AI

The recent Becker's article "The case against retention bonuses" shares executives' concerns that signing bonuses are not valuable for long-term retention and, at least for that reason, should be reconsidered: https://lnkd.in/eaPwt99R Our Laudio Insights data and analysis supports this perspective as well: https://lnkd.in/eEnb93PZ where we look at the differences in retention rates for organizations that use signing bonuses consistently versus those that do not, and note that they have limited value in creating longevity for early-tenure RNs. How sci-fi writer JG Ballard's computer poems predicted ChatGPT I’ve always been fascinated by how technology can transform our world. Growing up, I loved reading science fiction, and one writer who stood out to me was J.G. Ballard. In the 1960s, Ballard experimented with computers to create poetry.
