Here's how you can future-proof your Public Relations skills.
Future-proofing your public relations skills is as much about curiosity as it is about anything else. It is never enough to ask yourself about what a client does. One needs to also ask why a client does what it does, what the assumptions behind its business model are, why a customer might want to buy its services, what's happening in the market that makes the client's services valuable, etc. I could go on. My larger point is that as PR professionals, our job is first to understand the business priorities of our clients. That is one surefire way to future proof our work and skillsets.

Here's how you can enhance your skills and performance in Public Relations using feedback.
From my perspective, feedback is imperative. When you are an outside PR Agency that doesn't live within the company you represent, how else will you garner beneficial information? It has to come from the client partner. A trick to feedback is the internal process you set up to solicit the feedback and then how you embrace it and learn from it. When everyone understands that feedback is mutually beneficial, it becomes a win-win for all sides.

What is the best way to collaborate with other departments to improve your PR strategy?
If I am being honest, I don't love the premise of the question ending with "to improve YOUR PR strategy." In many business use cases, effective PR strategy incorporates multiple departments within an organization. Each department may have a role to play in the comms campaign, which is ideally designed to achieve the larger business objectives. When positioned that way, it is not a YOUR; rather, collaboration is a win for all sides. The points mentioned below about listening, learning, and aligning are spot-on points needed for collaboration. The secret sauce is for the departments to buy into the fact that their contributions (individually, as a department, and as part of the org) are part of what's needed to execute the biz strategy.

Your public relations team is struggling with media relations. What can you do to help?
There is a lot of valuable insight below from very smart people. We view successful media relations as the end result of a much larger strategy. Looking down from how accounts operate: - Is your team organized in an effective way? From the way they procure information to the way they execute across initiatives. - Is the client relationship set up to be give and take? Meaning that the rapport allows you to truly get under the hood and ask the hard questions. It is one thing to understand a business model and another thing to understand the assumptions behind a business model. - Is their constant innovation of the story? Once one story is written, what is the next story? When the execution is smooth sailing, the end result is results.
