TITLE 21ST CENTURY CENTER COORDINATOR

SUPERVISOR Principal/Superintendent

JOB SUMMARY To facilitate community and parent involvement through educational sessions and extracurricular events. Collaborate with families and community partners including the Boys & Girls Club, to engage the community in strategies and activities focused on growth, promotion of healthy lifestyle choices and increased cultural knowledge. Responsible for empowering families to be active participants in the school.

ASSIGNMENT

181 Days per Teacher Contract. Flexible hours as needed to accomplish tasks of the program – will include after school/evening hours and two Saturdays/month.

Performance Responsibilities

  • Work closely with building principals, teachers as well as parents/guardians regarding individual student’s participation in school, academic, work and extracurricular activities and advocate for the individual needs of students and their families.
  • Coordinate all aspects of after school hours (including summer activities) grant activities including family fun nights, Saturday Night Live, and after-school physical fitness and wellness programs.
  • Work closely with district staff and Boys and Girls Club staff including the district’s Director of Student Affairs & Activities, Indian Education Director, AIPAC etc. to implement programming
  • Keep all necessary records and assist Grants & Compliance Coordinator in completing all necessary reports and program evaluations
  • Develop activities to engage families and the community to support student growth and engagement in after school and summer school programming
  • Arrange for the publicity of informing parents and the community of scheduled activities and events.
  • Arrange/recruit community volunteers, businesses and organizations to assist with events
  • Develop a school parent/community group to support 21st Century Learning Community activities.
  • Ensure background checks are completed for all grant-funded contractors and volunteers.
  • Attend recommended training as it relates to the grant.

Supervision Of Other Employees

This position will supervise volunteers and those hired to provide programming activities

Qualifications

  • Current Teaching License preferred but not required.
  • Knowledge and experience in working with diverse cultures, preferably American Indian student populations.
  • Experience in effective interactions with students and families in a variety of situations.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate as a team member in a school environment.
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one or small group situations.
  • Ability to write correspondence, create flyers and reports.
  • Ability to communicate orally.
  • Ability to maintain cooperative working relationships with those contacted in the performance of duties, to include all other school staff, parents, and stakeholders.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to travel and a valid Minnesota Driver’s License
  • Must complete the necessary application process and pass a criminal background check and drug screening test
