Job Summary

We are seeking a highly organized Administrative Assistant to join our team. This role requires an experienced administrative professional who can also apply analytical skills to various tasks and duties. Key administrative responsibilities include managing schedules, handling purchases, overseeing mail and office supplies, coordinating travel, and supporting events. For the analytical responsibilities, the candidate must be able to apply professional concepts to conduct studies or projects of moderate scope and complexity, addressing various policy, research, and procedural issues. The ideal candidate will be a proactive multitasker who can work with little to no supervision.

Department Description

The UCSF Police Department provides contemporary police services including criminal investigation, community policing, crime prevention and suppression, emergency management, and site security services to a daily population of over 60,000 people at University and contract locations. Founded in 1864, UCSF includes the 107-acre Parnassus campus that is home to graduate professionals in dentistry, medicine, nursing, and pharmacy; a graduate division for pre- and postdoctoral scientists; UCSF Medical Center; UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital; and Langley Porter Psychiatric Institute. UCSF is considered one of the nation’s premier health sciences teaching, training, and research centers. UCSF is the only UC campus dedicated exclusively to the health sciences.

Required Qualifications

  • Four years of related administrative experience.
  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Working knowledge of common organization or research-specific and other computer application programs.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal & written) and the ability to use sound judgment when responding to issues and concerns, including the ability to use discretion and maintain confidentiality.
  • Demonstrates ability to use sound judgment in responding to issues and concerns.
  • Proficient in the ability to multi-task with demanding timeframes.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Suites or equivalent software applications.
  • The ability to work onsite in our San Francisco office.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in a related area.
  • Knowledge of project management methodologies.
