Huntsman is seeking an Analyzer Technician supporting the Performance Products Division located in Freeport, Texas. This position will report to the Maintenance Manager.

Job Scope

As an analyzer technician, you will be expected to provide and apply technical expertise in operation, preventative maintenance, calibration, troubleshooting, and repair of all online liquid process analyzers and their associated systems including: Gas Chromatographs, TOC Analyzers, NH3 Analyzers, PH Analyzers, IR/NIR Analyzers, and Spectrophotometer.

As The Analyzer Technician You Will

  • Perform daily routine inspections and maintenance on process analyzers and related sample systems to ensure analyzers reliable operation and accuracy of analyzers readings
  • Complete related analyzers maintenance checklist
  • Regularly performs routine preventive Maintenance and repairs following analyzers user manual, site established procedures and instructions and completes related checklists
  • Maintain accurate and thorough records of all analytical equipment calibrations in accordance with site best practices
  • Troubleshoot, repair and configure analyzer systems to minimize analyzer downtime
  • Document analyzer systems failure and corrective actions
  • Own continuous improvement of maintenance plans and provide feedback for developing analyzers preventative maintenance and increasing analyzers reliability
  • Responsible for Yokogawa GC 8000 and GC1000MarkII analyzers maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for Siemens Maxum II GC analyzers maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for ABB PGC5000 Gen 2 analyzer maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for Hach BioTector TOC analyzers maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for Metrohm NH3 analyzers maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for ABB PIR3502 Multiwave analyzers maintenance, calibration, and repair
  • Responsible for Galvanic Monitek Color analyzer maintenance, calibration, and repair

Other General Responsibilities

  • Accountable for personal safety, and promoting a safe work environment.
  • Responsible for emergency call-out and rotating weekly on-call duty.
  • Always maintain and promote a safe work environment and follow Safe Work Practices established by Huntsman.
  • Calibration of Gas Detection Instruments.
  • Identify and communicate troubleshooting and diagnostic evaluations for causes of analyzers and instrumentation failures with I/E team.
  • Supports production with the startup and shutdown of operations as needed.
  • Performs housekeeping duties to keep the area clean and free from debris.
  • Effective in communicating Instrumentation and spare part needs to I/E team.
  • Completes required computer-based training within specified timeframes and maintains current knowledge in the Analyzer functional area.
  • Follows instructions and performs other duties as may be assigned by supervisor.
  • Assists other employees in accomplishment of Huntsman company goals.
  • Participates in Environmental, Health, & Safety initiatives as set forth by the company.

Required Qualifications

You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.

The candidate must have an unrestricted right to work for Huntsman in the United States.

Minimum Qualifications

  • An Associate’s Degree of Applied Science in Analyzer Technology or Instrumentation Technology is required.
  • 3+ years of experience in industrial I/E/A maintenance in a petrochemical facility or similar industry is required.

Specific Skills And Knowledge

  • Knowledge of sample system designs and maintenance.
  • Computer skills (Microsoft Office Programs).
  • Knowledge of Electrical Area Classification.
  • Must have knowledge and experience with troubleshooting and repair of analytical equipment.
  • Ability to read P&ID's, Spec sheets and schematic drawings.
  • General knowledge of instrumentation and 4-20 mA signals.
  • Self-starter with ability to work strategically under little direction.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of Analyzers such as Yokogawa GC8000, Siemens Maxum II GC, ABB5000 GC, ABB Multiwave , BioTector TOC analyzer, Metrohm 2035 NH3 analyzer, and Galvanic Monitek Color analyzer.
  • Knowledge of Emerson Delta V.
