ECS is seeking a Aquaculture Economist to work in our Remote office .
Job Description:
ECS is seeking a part-time, remote Research Associate (Aquaculture Economist) to assist NOAA Fisheries Office of Aquaculture in developing estimates of demand to measure the carbon footprint of domestic seafood production in the Northeast.
As we look to foster new aquaculture opportunities, we must find ways to sustainably expand into underutilized coastal areas. In the Northeast, the Atlantic surfclam (Spisula solidissima) is a species that could support such a sustainable expansion into offshore waters. To realize the potential for offshore surfclam farming to support the expansion of sustainably raised domestic food, the logistical and economic landscape of such an endeavor should be evaluated. The contractor will assist NOAA with the assembly of data and information related to surfclam aquaculture and the needs for development of that sector in offshore waters. The data will be used to develop a better understanding of economic and logistic considerations necessary for the development of offshore surfclam aquaculture.
Tasks include:
Salary Range: $30hr-$45hr
General Description Of Benefits
