The Assistant Client Manager will support the NA Client Team with relationship management and business development initiatives focused on growing our key NA9, IKC, and Local Champion relationships.


The role holder will be responsible for the growth and support of the NA Client Team's accounts, driving business development in line with the goals of the NA Region's Client Growth Initiative (CGI).


The role will involve direct contact with lawyers, including senior partners, and clients, enabling the individual to directly play a part in driving the Firm's client growth strategy; and working collaboratively on opportunities with global, regional, and local BD colleagues to develop our largest client relationships.


Responsibilities:

  • Support day-to-day efforts to assess how the Firm is facing the client organization; work with the CSDs and Client Manager to determine what relationships need to be protected/strengthened/explored further to grow profitable revenues
  • Proactively drive the implementation of the assigned NA9 team's strategic client plan and associated tactical actions in conjunction with the NA Client Team
  • Coordinate internal client team meetings as well as client visits and client conferences, including running agendas, recording key actions, and ensuring their implementation
  • Support the NA Client Team in coaching the CSDs on driving demand, networking, and day-to-day BD activities and tailoring deliverables accordingly
  • Assist with global panel pitches and tenders and provide necessary client-centric guidance and input into the local office and practice-specific pitches
  • Proactively spot opportunities for revenue growth and work with relevant members of the NA Client Team to target and convert them
  • Prepare external and internal client reports and tailor communications, including the collation and tracking of value-added information and the analysis of financials and data
  • Manage internal client team communications to improve the global coordination of our largest client teams
  • Undertake client research and analysis as needed to identify and support relationship development opportunities
  • Coordinate and schedule CGI Board meetings, including the preparation of meeting materials and client program financial analyses
  • Support the NA Client Team in managing the client conference program at the Americas Meeting, liaising with hosting partners, client managers, and GMET
  • Promote client listening throughout the region, analyze trends in client listening activities, and assist in preparing analyses by market, practice, and industry group
  • Act as a key point of contact for internal NA Client Team queries
  • Support other regional client initiatives and projects, as assigned


Skills and Experience:

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent relevant work experience
  • Solid relevant experience in marketing and/or business development in a professional services environment is essential
  • Understanding of the basics of client relationship management
  • Confidence in contributing to business development discussions with timekeepers
  • Strong research & analysis capabilities allied to excellent verbal and written communication skills. Excellent attention to detail
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to successfully manage key internal and external relationships and projects across the global organization
  • Savvy in understanding and adapting to the expectations and the needs of different cultures across the Firm
  • Ability to readjust and reorganize plans and deal with and manage change
  • Ability to adopt a flexible approach when working with different personalities
  • Strong project coordination and time management skills
  • Demonstrates initiative and a self-starter


The US base compensation for this position is expected to be in the annual range listed if located in an office in one of the states below. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
