Join Our Team

The Assistant Director of People & Culture works closely alongside the Director of People & Culture and oversees the day-to-day running of the People & Culture function. This role should have Human Resource generalist knowledge and be versed in the areas of benefits, recruitment and retention strategies, wage and salary administration, labor and employee relations, learning and development, and local diversity initiatives.

The ideal candidate holds a minimum of 3-5 years of experience as a Human Resources Manager or above, preferably with Four Seasons or another luxury Hospitality brand. Furthermore, has an understanding of California labor law, strong working knowledge of the Workday HRIS and proficiency with Microsoft Office programs.

Additional preferred qualifications and skills include but are not limited to:

  • Verbal and written command of the English language and preferably bi-lingual in Spanish
  • Excellent emotional intelligence and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's Degree in Human Resources or Hospitality Business Management a plus.

Job Function/description

  • Plan, lead, direct, develop, and coordinate the activities and initiatives of the People and Culture area, ensuring legal compliance, labor, and the implementation of the talent strategy.
  • Promote positive relationships with employees through a fun environment that fosters open communication, trust, and mutual respect.
  • Proactively supports the leadership team with employee relations issues.
  • Strategize and plan in conjunction with the Director of People & Culture the budgeting initiatives and needs for the division.
  • Assess individual and hotel development needs in conjunction with the Learning and Development Manager.
  • Evaluate the success of development plans and help employees make the most of learning opportunities.
  • Plan and organize events and activities for employees such as the employee holiday party, children’s party, general staff meetings, employee picnic etc.
  • Actively supports the Lead With Care committee and ability to work closely with the Security team.
  • Involvement in identifying and assessing the needs of the People & Culture team and invests in their career development through effective coaching, training, by instilling company values.
  • Support the Talent Acquisition manager by actively participating in community recruiting events such as job fairs, local Colleges/University and other sources.
  • Monitor and ensure compliance with the staffing procedures and necessary local, state and federal audits. Ability to work closely with the Finance team.
  • Must possess a high level of professionalism and integrity while maintaining the confidentiality of the office.
  • Ability to assume the responsibilities of the Director of People & Culture in their absence.
