Billing Specialist

Legal billing specialists should have a bachelor's degree in accounting, at least four years of experience in accounting, and at least one year in the legal field. These specialists are tasked with compiling billable hours for clients and providing them with bills on a daily and monthly basis, as well as auditing the books each month to ensure that all clients have been billed properly. They typically create invoices for clients and reports for the corporate team for review, and organizational skills are beneficial in this position to locate information quickly. Legal billing specialists must also offer clients assistance as needed and answer questions they may have regarding their bills, and close attention to detail and the ability to work well with others are also helpful.

Legal billing specialists may be required to assemble annual budgeting plans or compile financial data for ownership or corporate review, and much of this work is done on computers, so prior experience with QuickBooks and Microsoft programs is highly beneficial. They must also be able to learn their clients' billing software if necessary and may be responsible for overseeing other accountants and assisting with financial questions as they arise. Good computer, communication and presentation skills arerequired.

Salary: $55,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
