A NOTE FROM THE WELARA TEAM

  • Thank you for your interest in this role; we are excited to get to know you.
  • As a multi-family office and wealth manager, we are in the service industry. The services we provide include stewardship of capital, the delivery of risk-adjusted absolute returns, and transparency built on a foundation of trust. Unlike other service providers, we are our first clients, which makes us have significant skin in the game. Yet, as no two clients are the same, no two investors are either. We are working relentlessly to find ways to personalize and optimize our client services by providing more than just the basics for wealth, asset, and lifestyle management for our clients. We felt there was a white space between what is offered and what our clients (and we) actually need. This is why we created Welara.
  • We get along best with people who are grittier, brighter, exceptional at attention to detail, possess a ceaseless desire to solve problems creatively and have an insatiable work ethic. Our standards are high for ourselves and those around us; we will hold you to that same standard and expect nothing less.
  • Unlike in other family offices, we are first and foremost creators, so we mirror our clients in many ways. That means we run our shop similar to a start-up where everyone works hard and works together, and no task is too small or too large for any person. You will be joining a group of highly experienced and driven investors and operational partners. You will be part of an international, ambitious, and open-minded team. You will build something memorable and your contributions won’t go unnoticed. It will be hard, it will be challenging, but it will be very fun and very rewarding.

WHAT DOES THIS ROLE ENTAIL?

  • Crypto Experience: Candidates with demonstrated experience or familiarity with cryptocurrency transactions and blockchain technologies will be preferred.
  • Financial Record Maintenance: Maintain accurate and up-to-date financial records, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and bank reconciliations.
  • QuickBooks Expertise: Utilize QuickBooks software for data entry, financial transactions, and reporting, ensuring accuracy and efficiency.
  • GAAP Compliance: Ensure all financial transactions and record-keeping adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Accounts Payable and Receivable: Manage invoices, payments, and receipts, reconciling accounts across entities to maintain financial accuracy.
  • Ad hoc financial analysis: Assessing key business value drivers, analyzing historical financial performance of companies and/or funds and reviewing various financial models and cap tables. Familiarity with various risk management and portfolio construction techniques is helpful. Experience across both private and public markets is a plus.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare and present financial reports, summaries and statements to support decision-making processes. For Asset Management, work directly with Fund Administrators to receive reports and reconcile across all accounts.
  • Bank Reconciliation: Reconcile bank statements and financial data across entities to ensure consistency and accuracy and email reports to senior management on a weekly and monthly basis.
  • Respiratory: Maintain organized and comprehensive financial documentation in financial software and data rooms to ensure easy retrieval and reference for internal and external auditing purposes, client reports, etc.
  • Expense Tracking: Monitor and track expenses, ensuring adherence to budgetary SOP guidelines and providing regular updates to management and ad hoc internal audits to ensure all checks and balances are being adhered to. Experience with setting up rules and procedures for expenses in Expensify and creating various standard operating procedures for employees and consultants.
  • Client engagement: On occasion, you will be responsible for interacting directly with the client and presenting their books and records (with the oversight and support of the client manager and client management team).
  • Compliance: Staying abreast of all the latest changes in GAAP Compliance and learning any additional accounting principles and best practices in each additional jurisdiction that Welara operates in.
  • Technology: Managing and streamlining bookkeeping software and helping input client reports into our data room software.
  • Team: We are here to help mentor, teach, and train our team to reach higher levels of excellence by working together to solve problems. We believe that continually learning in new and uncomfortable situations is the best recipe for professional and personal growth. We work across a variety of time zones, so you will need to be flexible with hours depending on what you are covering (e.g., New York, London, Geneva). You know how to admit what you don’t know, and how to ask the right people for help.

WHO WOULD MAKE A FUTURE WELARIAN?

  • Experience: Proven experience as a Bookkeeper, preferably in a family office or other type of similar asset management setting.
  • Education: You have a notable academic record in the context of your undergraduate and/or graduate degree. While we appreciate and acknowledge that education is important, there are some rare exceptions to this rule.
