Building Engineer II, Engineering Services

Responsibilities

This position is under immediate supervision of a higher grade Building Engineer. Assists in preventive maintenance and repairs on refrigerators, freezers, air conditioners, heaters, ice-makers, air compressors, pneumatic controls, chilled water heating and cooling and electrical air conditioning and heating systems. Repairs building electrical systems. Services exposed water, gas, and sewer systems; checks building security and fire alarm. Performs minor service and maintenance on chemical water treating systems. May be required to work nights or weekends.

Minimum Qualifications

Graduate of a vocational or technical training school with training in: refrigeration, air conditioning, electrical, mechanical or plumbing. Six months experience in one of the associated trades in the maintenance of plant equipment and systems. Ability to understand and implement oral and written instructions. Must be able to perform strenuous work requiring lifting weights up to 50 pounds, crawling, overhead work, kneeling, walking, and being on feet for extended periods of time. Possession of a valid Oklahoma driver's license. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Type II, Type III, or Universal Certification.

Preferred Qualifications

Graduate of a standard high school or equivalent. Twelve months of work experience in one of the associated trades in the maintenance of plant equipment and systems. EPA Section 608 Technician Certification Universal Certification.

Physical Requirements

Frequent and repeated bending, stooping, and kneeling. Working with arms extended above head. Lifting and carrying loads over fifty pounds. Working in very tight areas/cramped enclosures. Climbing ladders, working at heights.Working in extreme weather conditions. Exposure to physically demanding and potentially hazardous tasks. May be designated as an "essential position" during emergency closures. May be required to remain on campus overnight during weather or other emergencies.

Salary Range

Commensurate with experience.
