Summary
JOB SUMMARY
The Cancer Registry Data Specialist supports the LifeBridge Health cancer program by identifying specific disease diagnoses, confirms the diagnosis and determines whether these patients meet specific criteria for inclusion in the LifeBridge Health cancer program database. Abstracts demographic, diagnostic and epidemiologic treatment and survival information from inpatient and outpatient reports, records and electronic databases. Codes the primary site, morphology, and clinically and/or pathologically stages the disease. Follows up with patients, physicians and clinics to obtain and update missing data. May also assist with casefinding, suspense, follow up, cancer conference coordination, Rapid Cancer Reporting System (RCRS) alerts, cancer committee, breast program leadership committee, and other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
Thorough knowledge of reportable malignant and nonmalignant diseases, cancer staging and treatment, medical terminology, anatomy, physiology and ICD-10 Coding. Detailed knowledge and experience with the current International Classification of Diseases for Oncology (ICD-O), American Joint Committee on Cancer Staging Manuals, 7th and 8th Editions, Surveillance Epidemiology and End Results (SEER) Summary Stage, Multiple Primary of the American College of Surgeon standards, Maryland State Cancer Registry and knowledge of AJCC 8th Edition and ICD-O coding scheme.

Requirements
- Required Associate's Degree Health Related Field -Knowledge of anatomy, medical terminology and ICD-O coding required.
- 2-4 years Experience in hospital Cancer Registry setting. Experience working with cancer registry software desirable. Required
- ODS-C – Certified Oncology Data Specialist (formerly CTR - Certified Tumor Registrar)
