Chief Executive Officer

The Role

Location: Cleveland, Ohio

Reports to: Board of Directors

Direct Reports: Chief Human Resources Officer,Chief Financial Officer,Chief Client Services Officer, Chief External Affairs Officer, and Chief Prevention & Education Officer


Position Summary:

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) provides leadership, vision, and direction to support the growth and development of CRCC. The CEO managesthe organization’s opeations, including its programs, services, and outreach efforts. The CEO also represents CRCC in public, leads organizational development and strategic planning, builds partner relationships, and supervises a diverse, motivated team of professionals committed to CRCC’s vision and mission. The CEO runs the organization with integrity and transparency.


The CEO leads critical initiatives around educational programming, community engagement, clientadvocacy, government relations, and board development—all designed to achieve meaningful, measurable and systematic improvement in the way society supports survivors and works to prevent sexual violence.


This is a rare opportunity for an skilled candidate to lead one of the largest rape crisis centers in the nation. The CEO will inherit a strong and extremely knowledgeable team who are 100% committed to helping the people they serve. The team takespride in knowingtheir work is impactful and truly life-saving for many for who walk through their doors. The CRCC team has a 50-year track record of doing impactful work.


Key Responsibilities:


Board Leadership and Support:

  • Convenes the governing Board of Directors and supporting Committees, and develops draft agendas and briefing materials for members.
  • In cooperation with the Board, ensureseffective financial management, reporting, and organizational compliance, and prepares and oversee the annual budget.
  • Engages with current board members and recruits new board members,in compliance with board by-laws.
  • Guides strategic planning with the Board, staff, and stakeholders and oversees effective design, implementation, and evaluation of programs and initiatives.


Sustainability, Fundraising and Grant Management:

  • Ensures the organization has comprehensive long-termand annual resource development plans, in partnership with the Board.
  • Oversees all aspects of fundraising including sponsorships, partnerships, grants,special events, and individual giving.
  • Develops new and diversesources of revenueto support the organization’s missionand strategic direction.
  • Financial Management:
  • Creates and recommends annual budget for Board approval and manages organization's resources within those budget guidelines according to laws and regulations.
  • Ensures the overall financial vitality of the organization.
  • Oversees and authorizes all expenditures withinthe limits of the approvedbudget.
  • Consistently informsthe Board of the organization's financial position.
  • Coordinates activities with and directs vendors, contractors and consultants to assure performance under their agreements in compliance with budget and operational considerations.


Advocacy and Government Relations:

  • Builds relationships with elected officials and advocates for mission-aligned programs and priorities.
  • Collaborates with other local governmental, community, and nonprofit organizations on areas of mutual interest.
  • Works closely with and meets electedofficials and othersto advance the organization’s
  • vision and mission.
  • Interacts with the public in a tactful and diplomatic manner, provides transparency, communicates effectively and objectively evaluates problems and recommends appropriate solutions.
  • Acts as primary liaisonto partner institutions.


Marketing, Community, and Public Relations:

  • Serves as the chief spokesperson for CRCC and represents CRCC at events, in meetings, and in the media.
  • Implements marketing strategies to promoteCRCC’s mission.
  • Develops and nurtures innovative partnerships and projects that support the
  • organization’s vision and mission.
  • Assures that CRCC presentsa strong, positiveimage to stakeholders.


CRCC Operations:

  • Plans, organizes, and directs programsthat carry out the organization's mission.
  • Maintains appropriate staff structure; recruits, trains, develops, mentors,and evaluates team members; creates and maintains a working environment that fosters collaboration across the organization.
  • Leads and motivates the Executive Team and staff and provides them with tools and resources to operate CRCC.
  • Maintains businesssystems to ensureeffective and efficientoperations.
  • Work to develop and implement a collective bargaining agreement for the CRCC Union.


Programs & Services:

  • Oversees CRCC programs, servicesand initiatives to support survivors, promote prevention and advocate for social change.
  • Ensures soundprogram management and recommends improvements.
  • Plans the development and implementation of community events.
  • Responsible for quality assuranceand corporate compliance programs, ensuring attainment of agency accreditations.


Candidate Profile:


Professional Experience:

  • 10+ years of experience in non-profit management, specifically in a leadership role. Experience working in social services/trauma-informed environment or a social services non-profit is a plus.
  • Demonstrated ability to build and cultivate relationships with stakeholders, and the ability to engage and work effectively with diverse individuals.
  • Demonstrated fundraising, marketing, and advocacyskills and successes.
  • Knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices.
  • Ability to forge partnerships with client advocacy organizations, government officials, community stakeholders, board members, staff, and volunteers.
  • Substantial experience working collaboratively with a Board of Directors on strategic planning and mission execution.
  • Ability to articulate CRCC’svision and createstrategies to achievethis vision.
  • Commitment to collaboration and teamwork.
  • Innovative approaches to CRCC's missionand programs, with financial sustainability in mind.
  • Commitment to building programs to support survivors and co-survivors of rape and sexual abuse.
  • Labor relations and managinga unionized workforce.

Education:

  • Master's degreein non-profit management, social work, healthcare management, or related field OR equivalent in work experience, strongly preferred.
