Data Analyst

Position Summary

The Data Analyst is responsible for organizing data from our EHR systems and providing actionable insights that help SCCC leadership make business decisions and comply with reporting requirements. The Data Analyst works to make sure that the data is collected properly, observing any legal or ethical standards are met, and reported in accordance with applicable requirements. The position requires cross-functional collaboration with all departments.

The Data Analyst must demonstrate regard for the rights of all patients and provide respectful and considerate care focused on the patient's individual needs. Data Analyst will provide a safe and confidential environment for patients, families, and personnel. This position requires the person to work on-site. This is not a remote position.

Essential Functions

  • Interpret data, analyze results using statistical techniques, and provide ongoing reports and dashboards.
  • Develop and implement data collection systems, data analytics, and other strategies that optimize statistical efficiency and quality.
  • Create design specifications for new reports.
  • Acquire data from primary or secondary data sources and maintain databases/data systems.
  • Identify, analyze, and interpret trends or patterns in complex data sets.
  • Filter and “clean” data by reviewing computer reports, printouts, and performance indicators to locate and correct code problems.
  • Work with management to prioritize business and information needs and present information to help drive clinical and business decisions.
  • Synthesize and provide data insights that drive clinical process improvement, decision-making, population health management, and cost containment, and help define new quality improvement.
  • Perform detailed analyses of workflows, data collection, report details, and other technical issues associated with the use of EHR software in collaboration with the Quality and IT departments.
  • Participate as part of a team to assemble requests for information/proposals, calculations, or other specifications and documents.
  • Serve as a subject matter expert in various reporting initiatives, including but not limited to Uniform Data System (UDS), grant reporting, and QA/QI projects.
  • Develop and utilize query and reporting standards to ensure a high degree of consistency surrounding the layout and usability of reports.
  • Act as Azara DRVS software administrator, performing duties such as data validation, new data mapping, and user maintenance.
  • Act as Compliatric program administrator.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Additional Requirements

  • Grants are a vital part of Care Clinic revenues and directly or indirectly support all positions. This role may have responsibilities that are closely associated with grant deliverables. Grants and grant responsibilities may change over time.
  • Complete all required training as designated by HR and the position supervisor.
  • Adhere to all policies within the organization and those outlined within the SCCC Employee Handbook.
  • Comply with all SCCC Vaccine Mandates.
  • Willingness to travel and work at other SCCC locations as determined by the supervisor.
  • Comply with all applicable Credentialing and Privileging requirements timely.
  • Embrace the SCCC Mission and Vision and agree to work within the SCCC Guiding Principles and the principles set by the position supervisor.
  • Must participate in quality assurance/ improvement activities when applicable.

Education/Experience

Must Haves to be successful:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, health information management, or equivalent.
  • At least one (1) year of experience as a data analyst.
  • At least one (1) year experience in a clinical healthcare setting or equivalent.
  • Experience utilizing SQL queries, Crystal Reports, and Microsoft Access.
  • Experience creating custom SQL queries.
  • Ability to read, write, and clearly speak the English language.
  • Solid knowledge of word processing software, spreadsheet software, and database software.
  • Ability to define complex problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment. Self-directing and organized.
  • Ability to reason objectively. Ability to assess, project, and plan for patient’s needs.
  • Knowledge of state/ federal/agency regulations.
  • Ability to document concisely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
  • Ability to handle a variety of duties that may be interrupted or changed by immediate circumstances.
  • Ability to relate cooperatively and constructively with patients, co-workers, administration, physicians and providers, community agencies, referral sources, regulators, and other health team members.
  • Ability to enlist the cooperation of others.
  • High tolerance for stress.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience using Power BI.
  • Experience using Aprima EHR.
  • Previous experience in a community health center.
  • Previous non-profit experience.
  • Ability to speak Spanish (bilingual) is preferred.

Work Environment

The work environment is in a healthcare setting and can be fast-paced and involves working directly with patients and healthcare professionals. The individual may also work in a clerical setting.
