, Job Description

We are seeking a dedicated and experienced Deputy Director of Nursing (Deputy DON) to support the Director of Nursing (DON) in managing nursing operations and promoting excellence in patient care within our healthcare organization. The Deputy DON will play a key role in overseeing nursing staff, implementing nursing policies and procedures, and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position offers an excellent opportunity for a seasoned nursing leader to contribute to the success and growth of our nursing department.

  • Nursing Leadership:Assist the DON in providing leadership and direction to the nursing team, promoting a culture of professionalism, collaboration, and accountability.
  • Clinical Oversight:Oversee nursing operations within designated areas, ensuring adherence to best practices, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
  • Patient Care Quality:Collaborate with nursing staff and other healthcare professionals to monitor and improve the quality of patient care, clinical outcomes, and patient satisfaction.
  • Staffing and Scheduling:Assist in developing staffing plans and schedules to ensure adequate coverage and optimal utilization of nursing resources, taking into account patient acuity and workload.
  • Training and Development:Support nursing education and training programs, facilitating ongoing professional development and competency-building initiatives for nursing staff.
  • Performance Management:Assist in managing the performance of nursing staff, conducting regular evaluations, providing feedback, and addressing performance issues as needed.
  • Collaboration:Work collaboratively with other members of the healthcare team, including physicians, allied health professionals, and administrators, to coordinate patient care and achieve organizational goals.
  • Quality Improvement:Participate in quality improvement efforts within nursing units, analyzing data, identifying opportunities for improvement, and implementing evidence-based strategies to enhance patient care and safety.
  • Compliance:Ensure compliance with all nursing regulations, standards of practice, and accreditation requirements, staying updated on regulatory changes and updates.
  • Resource Management:Assist in budget planning and management for nursing services, optimizing resource allocation and cost-effectiveness while maintaining high standards of care.
  • Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) degree from an accredited institution; Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) preferred.
  • Current RN licensure in the state of practice.
  • Proven leadership experience in nursing management or supervisory roles, with at least [X] years of experience preferred.
  • Strong clinical background with expertise in nursing practice, patient care delivery, and quality improvement.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and team-building skills.
  • Knowledge of nursing regulations, standards of practice, and accreditation requirements.
  • Commitment to continuous learning, professional development, and excellence in nursing practice.
  • Experience with electronic health records (EHR) and healthcare technology preferred.

Compensation | Min: $96,000 Max: $117,000

Pay range is based on several factors and may vary in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits. Final salary and offer will be determined by the applicant’s background, experience, skills, internal equity, and alignment with geographical market data.
