Director, Compliance

The Compliance team designs and implements a compliance program that enables Arc to proactively adhere to regulatory requirements while also identifying and addressing potential regulatory issues that may arise. Compliance program activities include advisory, training, independent testing & monitoring, reporting, escalation, and oversight and facilitation of audits and regulatory exams. As a second line of defense, Compliance proactively partners with the business to support new products, markets, and initiatives, change management, issue identification, and remediation plans, assessment and monitoring of third parties, and provides trends and data to enable informed decision making, strengthen controls or provide for better treatment of consumer.

In this role, the Director, Compliance will implement and monitor initiatives that continuously improve soundness across the enterprise. The role will help to establish an effective risk control environment and address regulatory/compliance requirements. The individual is responsible for delivering quality results, providing compliance advice to business lines as a subject matter expert, and executing or participating in corporate risk management processes including the engagement of business partners and collaboration with management to achieve Compliance Testing Program objectives.

We prefer candidates who are within commuting distance of our Moorestown, NJ office for hybrid work (3 days in office, 2 days from home) but will also consider remote candidates.

Essential Job Functions:

Responsibility for compliance for all channels of Arc Home’s business, including but not limited to:

  • Provide compliance guidance and support to internal customers to ensure ongoing awareness and understanding of compliance with federal & state law and company policy.
  • Review, communicate and assist with implementation of regulatory changes for business channel(s).
  • Facilitate internal reviews and identify root cause analysis of any issues, including but not limited to execution, analysis and communication of periodic compliance assessments, loan file sampling and testing to ensure compliance with TRID, HMDA, ECOA, OFAC, and other applicable mortgage laws regulations.
  • Execution of quarterly reviews and reporting of HMDA data for respective business channels including assistance with the revision of processes for enhanced data quality.
  • Reviewing and reconciling loan level pipeline data for quarterly mortgage call reports at the state and federal levels.
  • Collaborating with Sales, Operations, and IT to ensure data integrity is monitored and processes or procedures updated as necessary to meet compliance requirements for accurate reporting.
  • Assist with review and completion of requests for periodic state regulatory exams and reports.
  • Provide subject matter expertise and compliance guidance during company project meetings for upcoming or ongoing company initiatives, as required.
  • Support and assist business channel(s) with the policies and procedures as required.
  • Maintaining a good working knowledge of all mortgage lending laws and regulations on a nationwide basis.
  • Manage staff, provide direction, set goals, evaluate results, ensure departmental goals are attained and working with the VP, Chief Compliance Office, is responsible to strategically provide innovation and direction. Ensures ongoing activities are performed according to established policies and procedures. The role also leads the development of group policies and procedures and assists staff with complex questions and issues as necessary.


Position Qualifications:

Skills/Abilities:

  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of federal and state laws and regulations applicable to the origination of residential mortgage loans including TILA/RESPA/TRID, HMDA, ECOA, OFAC, GLBA, etc.
  • A data driven mindset towards problem solving and the ability to convert data into consumable information that will inform business and risk-based decisioning
  • Strong collaborative skills
  • A strong bias towards levering technology to create positive compliance outcomes
  • Keen ability to constantly reprioritize work based on what is most important to the organization at a given time
  • Must be action-oriented, solution focused and must possess the confidence to work with a high degree autonomy

Education and Experience:

  • At least 6 years of relevant compliance experience focused on the origination of residential mortgage loans is required
  • Experience working in a multi-channel organization including wholesale and correspondent origination is preferred
  • Experience with Non-QM, Non-Agency, and/or HELOC products is preferred
