Director, Financial Aid

The Director of Student Financial Aid (DSFA) reports to the Assistant Vice President of Enrollment and Financial Aid (AVPEFA). The DSFA provides leadership and oversight for the development, implementation and management of processes and systems related to the administration of Title IV programs, institutional assistance programs, state programs, veteran’s educational benefits and other assistance programs. Supervises a team of two full time employees. The DSFA works collaboratively with the Director of Admissions, Registration and Records, Advising team and Business Office Staff to ensure a positive experience with the university from acceptance to graduation promoting student success. The department coordinates the awarding and delivery of over $10 million in federal, state, institutional, and external financial aid and resources annually.

Responsibilities include developing and implementing annual plans; coordinating and participating in outreach to external stakeholders; developing procedures; preparing formal fiscal, and funding reports for external regulatory organizations; disbursing funds; awarding scholarships; preparing weekly packaging reports; determining departmental policy; developing and implementing a comprehensive calling campaign to all prospective students from application to matriculation and recommending and monitoring the budget.

The successful candidate will have excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills, and a demonstrated commitment to student success. He/she must have knowledge of federal and state financial aid regulations, minimum of five years in related financial aid experience; a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree; and a proven track record of progressive experience at a managerial level in financial aid. Capitol Technology is seeking an individual with strong managerial skills, experience with financial aid systems such as PowerFaids, COD, NSLDS, and EdConnect and the knowledge to deliver effective financial aid strategies and services in light of changing federal and state rules and regulations and changing expectations of students and families.
