Job Summary

The primary objectives of this position are to work with academic division deans, local educational agencies (LEA), and the College’s workforce development personnel in the coordination and planning of career and technical education (CTE) pathways for K-12 partnerships; to oversee program administration for the College’s dual enrollment and dual credit offerings; and to ensure that CTE and K-12-related initiatives are implemented across College in accordance with local, regional, state, and federal entities. K-12 partnerships include, but are not limited to, dual enrollment offerings, dual credit, and other appropriate early post-secondary and middle college educational pathways.

Job Duties

In conjunction with the Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs, and the Deans, assists with coordinating and implementing strategies to develop, enhance, and expand the college’s CTE programs. Provides direction, leadership, and accountability for K-12 LEA and community-based organization partnerships and programming, Provides supervision and leadership for personnel assigned to the College’s Office of Dual Enrollment and Off-Campus Sites Facilitates the coordination and alignment of CTE and workforce development programs with LEA partners, the College’s Vice President for Economic Development and Regional Centers, regional occupational programs/employers, and other entities to enhance educational and career opportunities for students. Maintains regular and routine contact leading to strong positive working relationships with all service area LEAs, as well as other entities that are connected with P-16 education across the state. Coordinates dual enrollment opportunities in collaboration with LEA principals and CTE directors to ascertain programmatic needs on an annual basis, as well as prior to each semester for consistency of the program. Serves as the College’s liaison to Sumner County Middle College and collaborates with the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in overseeing the Putnam County Middle College and the development of new middle college opportunities in the VSCC service area. Develops and maintains a Memoranda of Understanding with each service area LEA and other appropriate entities to offer dual enrollment courses and/or other early post-secondary educational opportunities to high school students. Oversees and assists the K-12 Coordinators as they collaborate with department chairs, deans, LEAs, and the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs to develop, monitor, and finalize dual enrollment course schedules, including academic and CTE programming. Provides leadership and oversight for implementation of the College’s K-12 outreach programs. Coordinates with the Assistant Vice President of Academic Affairs, Admissions and Marketing, Communications, and Media Services regarding marketing strategies for CTE and K-12-related programing. Maintains and applies strong working knowledge of internal and external policies, guidelines, and procedures, SACSCOC standards, and State and Federal laws, codes, and regulations relating to CTE, dual enrollment, dual credit, certified pathways, and other early post-secondary opportunities. Assists with state and federal dual enrollment reporting/accreditation requirements. Coordinates with Students Services departments, including Admissions, Records, and Financial Aid, to ensure effective recruitment, admissions, and enrollment processes for dual enrollment students. Formulates unit reports, viability analyses, studies, objectives, and strategies concerning CTE and dual enrollment/credit in order to advance enrollment and participation in the programs. Develops and delivers an orientation program for faculty concerning dual enrollment and dual credit. Manages assessment processes in conjunction with the appropriate departments, divisions, and outside entities in order to enhance the College’s ability to meet the needs of the students served through dual enrollment, dual credit, and other early post-secondary educational opportunities. Coordinates the local dual credit testing program in collaboration with the Testing Center, other Student Services offices, and LEAs to facilitate dual credit opportunities for students. Assists the Assistant Vice President for Academic Affairs in developing and maintaining off-campus dual enrollment instructional sites. Reviews/updates Dual Enrollment Student Handbook and other related documents and processes annually. Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Master’s degree.

Four (4) years of relevant experience.

Preferred Qualifications

An earned Doctorate.

Supervisory experience in higher education.

Experience within higher education, CTE, and/or K-12.

Knowledge, Skills, And Abilities

Knowledge of CTE, K-12 and higher education practices and procedures.

Analytical ability and detail oriented.

Ability to plan and execute projects on a large scale.

Working knowledge of Banner system.

Frequent travel to service area agencies, primarily high schools and LEAs, in the Vol State 11-county service area.

Strong communication and organizational skills.

Sensitivity to and respect for the diverse academic, socioeconomic, cultural, disability, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, faculty, staff, and other community members.

Pay Rate: $56,881 - $71,101 annual salary depending on experience
