Position Summary
Reporting to the VP, Philanthropy, the Director of Events and Donor Engagement leads the creation of significant and meaningful donor engagement in our mission through the leadership of our events and content sharing, being a core leader that helps frontline fundraisers raise over $25M in private revenue. The Director will be a collaborative leader working across all teams with strong project management skills and attention to detail, a deep understanding of donor engagement and experience, highly organized, and a proven track record of leading major fundraising events.
The Director is a back of house and front of house role, shifting between supporting our frontline fundraising teams to ensure they have a strong stream of events and content for engaging their donors; and working directly with donors as part of event planning. The Director will have a strong sensitivity for working with clients and those with lived experience of homelessness, and an understanding of ethical and strengths-based storytelling that centers the voices of our clients.

Events Leadership
- Comprehensive Event Leadership: From initial conception to post-event debrief, lead the strategic planning, execution, leadership, and continuous improvement of a diverse range of events including the Ride to End Homelessness, our annual benefit luncheon, intimate backyard gatherings, webinars, volunteer events, and other agency events and gatherings.
- Project Management: Develop a timeline of responsibilities, coordinating and following up with staff and stakeholders. Managing and implementing RACI using the Monday.com platform
- Manage Development Events Calendar: Coordinate across the organization to develop a calendar of events aligned with agency and development initiatives.
- Program and Presentation Excellence: Ensure that each event features a strong program and presentation that effectively communicates the mission and impact of LifeMoves.
- Vendor Management – Work with a range of vendors to execute events, creating strong collaborations meshing external partners with the LifeMoves team. Ensure competitive bidding for products and services to effectively manage event costs
- Donor Engagement: Collaborate with the Corporate, Marketing, Principal and Individual Giving teams to secure attendance from donors and stakeholders.
- Event Marketing: Spearhead event marketing in coordination with the Development and Marketing teams on multi-channel efforts to attract new supporters and engage current supporters in LifeMoves events.
- Revenue Generation: Partner with frontline fundraiser leaders to develop strategies to establish and meet revenue goals for each event, including sponsorships, ticket sales, and donations
- Budget Management: Develop event-specific budgets and manage events to budget.
- Continuous Improvement: Work with data analyst to evaluate the success of each event and identify areas for improvement. Work towards enhancing the quality and impact of events year over year. Build out documentation and processes to streamline the event planning and implementation process for events of all types and sizes.
Qualifications Needed:
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
- Minimum of seven years’ experience successfully planning and executing large-scale events with diverse audiences.
- Demonstrated experience leading or participating in the gathering and sharing of client stories and program content.
- Results-oriented, strategic thinker, highly responsive, proactive, timely, accurate and thorough in follow through.
- Excellent oral and written communication and interpersonal skills; proven ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Excellent time management skills to handle multiple projects.
- Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines.
- Creative thinker with a passion for creating meaningful experiences for guests.
- Familiarity with fundraising strategies and donor engagement tactics.
- Understanding of the issues faced by unhoused individuals and other marginalized populations.
- Availability to work occasional evenings and weekends.
