Job Summary

Under the direction of the Executive Director/Administrator the Director of Health Services is responsible for the health and wellness needs of all Residential and Assisted Living residents. Implements policies, procedures and management systems. Coordinates nursing services with care centers, physicians, families, residents, consultants, ancillary service providers and other department personnel within the facility. Promotes quality care delivery by all providers.

Essential Functions

Include the following. Other duties may be assigned as necessary.

  • Provides quality Customer Service efficiently to residents, families, co-workers and vendors in a manner to ensure satisfaction.
  • Assures facility compliance with RCFE regulations in health-related matters.
  • Implements organizational policy and procedures.
  • Recruits, hires, schedules, supervises, counsels, evaluates all nursing service employees in Residential Living and Summer House according to established policies and procedures.
  • Conducts all trainings emphasizing the importance of safety in the workplace and proper safety procedures.
  • Ensures 24-hour provision of nursing services within Residential Living and Summer House.
  • Acts as liaison between family, residents, and physicians.
  • Supervises the health care services and programs to residents.
  • Supervises computerized medical records process.
  • Coordinates resident admissions and transfers with other departments and/or community agencies.
  • Supervises and participates in resident interdisciplinary care plan conferences. Supervises documentation in resident health records and reviews scheduled audits.
  • Participates in budget planning and monitoring of fee scheduling and charging for services and cost-effective utilization of resources.
  • Responsible for orientation and ongoing in-service education of all assisted living nursing staff.
  • Promotes stimulation, uplifting and comfortable environments for residents, families and staff.

JOB REQUIREMENTS And QUALIFICATIONS

  • Current LVN licensure required / Current RN licensure preferred; Experience in long-term care community health, geriatric and/or rehabilitative nursing desirable; 5 years’ experience working in a senior community and have supervisory experience.
  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, technical procedures, or government regulations. Must be able to read, write, speak and understand English.
  • Basic mathematical skills required.
  • Must be able to understand, follow, support and initiate policies and procedures of the facility. Must be able to recognize emergency situations and respond appropriately; must be able to plan, organize, prioritize and implement work assignments efficiently; must be able to function effectively with no supervision.

  • Must be able to wear gloves to guard against exposure to body fluids and cleaning agents.
  • Regularly required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools or controls and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to stand, climb or balance and talk or hear.
  • Occasionally required to walk; stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move above 50 pounds with the assistance from a co-worker and/or mechanical means.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
