Planned Parenthood of Southwest & Central Florida is looking for the right candidate to fill the role of Director of Philanthropy for the Orlando region. Candidate must reside in or around Orlando region, Florida.


Must advocate for the Planned Parenthood mission and provide outstanding customer service. Demonstrate understanding of and a strong personal commitment to furthering reproductive rights. JOB SUMMARY:

The Director of Philanthropy is responsible for the implementation of a results-driven major and planned giving fundraising program incorporating Planned Parenthood Southwest Central Florida (PSWCF) strategic campaign, operations, and program goals.


This position is part of a team dedicated to strengthening Planned Parenthood’s fundraising efforts and will be required to participate in activities such as fundraising events, crafting appeals and managing volunteers to achieve organizational goals and success.


This person will support the department in meeting the agency’s annual fundraising and campaign goals. Position is responsible for coordinating efforts with other members of the development team and affiliate leadership and volunteers.


In addition, the position functions on multiple teams within the Philanthropy team, in varying roles (leader, consultant, helper, decision maker, etc.) as the Philanthropy department is a fully collaborative team.


PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Implement cycle of identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship of a major and planned gift donor and prospect portfolio. The Director of Philanthropy must be knowledgeable about major gifts, targeted fundraising efforts, and cultivation events and able to communicate results effectively to internal and external audiences.
  • Work with the team to create and follow an annual development plan to maximize revenues and use of resources.
  • Build relationships/represent the organization in building relationships with donors, volunteers, prospective donors and like-minded community groups.
  • Work with VP of Philanthropy, other directors, CEO, Trustees, Friends Councils, event committees, and other volunteers and development teams to develop, manage and implement results-driven major gifts programs, including special events, to identify, cultivate and solicit a targeted group of major donors and prospects.
  • Use Raisers Edge fundraising software, entering donor actions/notes, running basic queries, understanding and communicating metrics.
  • Assist in the strategic planning for and implementation of capital/major gift/gift planning campaigns, including financial goals and contact/relationship enhancing goals.
  • Expand the number and level of major donors supporting PPSWCF and develop a cultivation strategy for each major donor in the portfolio.
  • Work with financial advisors and attorneys to establish support for planned gifts.
  • Facilitate strong working relationships within the organization to support major giving opportunities.
  • Ensure that major donors receive regular, timely, appropriate, and informative reports regarding the achievement enabled by their giving.
  • Represent affiliate at off-site events and functions, as needed.
  • Advocate for reproductive rights and voluntary family planning.
  • Work with regional event staff to support events and logistics.
  • Identify and solicit potential leaders and sponsors for events.
  • Adhere to the Association of Fundraising Professionals Code of Ethics.


KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES (KSA’S):

  • Commitment to Planned Parenthood’s mission and the ability to communicate its objectives enthusiastically to potential donors.
  • Minimum 3 years of major giving program experience in an established development program and/or training or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Experience and success in the face-to-face solicitation of large contributions of five or more figures.
  • Familiarity with the concepts, tools and requirements of major gifts and annual campaigns.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Must be able to maintain a high level of confidentiality and autonomy.
  • Results-oriented with a demonstrated ability to plan, prioritize and implement tasks.
  • Ability to earn the confidence of a wide range of internal and external constituents.
  • Ability to work creatively within a limited budget.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred.
  • Computer familiarity, knowledge of database management.
  • Advocate for Planned Parenthood mission and legislative goals with local, state, and federal legislators by responding to email activations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to staff, donors, and volunteers.
  • Ability to climb stairs; ability to lift 20 pounds.
  • Ability to calculate figures and explain budgets/expenses to key stakeholders.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to deal with several abstract and concrete variables.


Salary Range Disclaimer The base salary range represents the low and high end of the Indeed salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on factors including but not limited to location, experience, and performance. The range listed is just one component of PPSWCF's total compensation package for employees.
