Job Description
This position serves as the recognized resource for the Michigan corporate income tax (CIT), responsible for reviewing and analyzing internal and legislative proposals related to CIT. This position is the bureau's expert on data available in the Department's tax filing system with expertise on how to use the data appropriately. Analysis projects may often be complex and require the analyst to develop a unique estimation strategy based on the available data in order to accurately project future tax collections under the proposed legislation. Estimates the revenue impact of existing economic incentives affecting the CIT.

Required Education And Experience
Education
Possession of a bachelor's degree with a major in economics.
Experience
Three years of professional experience performing economic analysis and modeling activities equivalent to an Economic Analyst, including one year equivalent to an Economic Analyst P11.
Note: A position is considered professional if the job requires a bachelor's degree. Qualifying experience is counted post bachelor's degree .
Applicants who possess a degree from a foreign college or university must have their academic credentials evaluated or converted into U.S. educational equivalents unless the degree has been recognized by the Council on Higher Education Accreditation (CHEA). Go to evaluators for a list of accepted organizations that evaluate foreign credentials. Failure to provide this evaluation at the time of application may result in you being screened out of the process.

For our purposes, "official college transcripts" must contain the college/university name and address, the degree conferred, and date granted, coursework completed (especially if no degree granted), and the Registrar's signature and/or seal. This position is eligible to work remotely on Mondays, Thursdays, and Fridays, and must work onsite Tuesdays and Wednesdays. Selected candidate must have a safe and appropriate designated workspace or workstation for performance of work and secure and sufficient internet access of commercial cable or wireless broadband with minimum speeds of 25 Mbps download and 5 Mbps upload.
Work must be performed in the state of Michigan. If you currently reside outside of Michigan, you must relocate to Michigan to perform the duties of this position. Relocation expenses are not reimbursed.
The Michigan Department of Treasury participates in E-Verify and will provide the federal government with your form I-9 information to confirm that you are authorized to work in the U.S.
Interviews will likely occur virtually using Microsoft Teams. No prior experience with Teams is necessary, as instructions and tips will be provided to all candidates scheduled for an interview.
This position has a FTINPRINT sub-class code. The sub-class code indicates the position has access to Federal Tax Information (FTI) and requires passing of a fingerprint-based background check per IRS Publication 1075.
