Position Description:

The Engineering and Maintenance Manager serves as the essential link between the Plant Manager and the centralized Maintenance and Manufacturing Engineering organization. This role is crucial for maximizing financial benefits from the plant's capital and maintenance expenditures, production equipment, and fixed assets, aligning with the operational goals and objectives.


Position Responsibilities:

  • Lead Engineering and Maintenance teams to ensure operational reliability aligns with Production Team needs.
  • Collaborate with Health, Safety, and Environmental team to ensure compliance with pollution control, equipment installation, modification, and maintenance standards.
  • Oversee preventative maintenance for compliance and effectiveness, and ensure 5S compliance.
  • Manage overhaul schedules to maintain sustained performance.
  • Possess working knowledge of power transmission, pneumatics, and hydraulics.
  • Develop, monitor, and ensure timely completion of both short and long-term plant goals and action plans.
  • Assist the Plant Manager in operational improvements to enhance productivity and reduce costs.
  • Implement new technologies and Lean Manufacturing principles to maximize efficiency.
  • Plan and execute capital asset projects according to the Annual Operating Plan and established policies.
  • Foster cost-saving initiatives and provide operational leadership in coordinating projects using maintenance and manufacturing engineering resources.
  • Create a work environment that promotes trust, teamwork, quality, and safety.
  • Handle team assignments, hiring, development, training, coaching, and disciplinary actions as needed.
  • Adhere to company policies and ensure the production of quality products in compliance with established quality standards.


Required Skills and Experience:

  • Six years of experience in a manufacturing/production environment.
  • Three years of plant engineering/management experience in manufacturing, including financial and project management.
  • Proven track record of successful department budget management.
  • Demonstrated expertise in Preventive Maintenance, Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Reliability-Based Asset Management.
  • Ability to work in a demanding 365/24/7 manufacturing environment with rotating shifts.
  • Experience with rotating equipment, such as conveyors.
  • Working knowledge of metals, fabrication, and NFPA 70E standards.
  • Understanding of basic water balancing, treatment, and quality.
  • Familiarity with SAP/ERP systems and the ability to interface with regulatory agencies.
  • Knowledge of capital project development, cost estimation, and management.
  • Experience in managing, scheduling, and developing human resources.
  • Strong interpersonal, team-building, and collaboration skills.
  • Effective communication skills, both verbally and in writing.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project.
  • Experience with Automated Control Systems, PLCs, and PCs.
  • Knowledge of Lean Six Sigma manufacturing principles and 5S deployment/sustainability.
